Twitter has an algorithm that promotes a lot of the awful, contentious behaviour that plenty of us are familiar with, not to mention its not-so-subtle lean toward pushing posts that lean with the CEO’s preferred tastes and views on the world. Bluesky has NO main algorithm. It is decentralized, much like the software Mastodon. Because of this, there can be no forced lean toward promoting posts that partake in or incite the awful shit you see on Twitter, forcing them to rely on bait interactions. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS. See an awful piece of shit from Twitter find their way onto Bluesky? BLOCK them. MUTE them. REPORT if egregious enough. Do not engage in any way with them, whether through screenshot dunks, quote posting, replies, anything! Cut off their only means of getting any attention on this platform. If you plan on making warning posts on users, convince your followers to follow this advice!
