talk about a venn diagram that is two completely disconnected circles.
an alternate way of saying this is that they can’t find hacks willing to risk their reputations or licenses
The year is 1969. Man lands on the moon. Back on Earth, the Concorde flies its first test for a commercial supersonic airline.
The year is 2026. Man circles the moon and will, a few years later, land. Back on Earth, there is a concept of a plan for commercial supersonic flights.
dammit
Not if RFK Jr got there first.
man, gallup really knew what they were doing when they decided to get out of the presidential approval game about 3 months ago. admirable foresight. totally shameless. gutless. lowkey corrupt. but admirable foresight.
MERIWETHER LEWIS (1774-1809) Life: Explorer and former governor of the Louisiana Territory, Meriwether Lewis stands as one of American history's great adventurers. President Thomas Jefferson noted that Lewis was "remarkable even in infancy for enter- prise, boldness, and discretion. " Governor at 33, Lewis found the office a difficult one be. cause of the feuds between the territory's officials and political parties. Financial problems plagued Lewis, due in part to his "land speculation" investments in the new territory. Anxiety over his financial state was increased when the U.S. Government questioned the validity of his public expenditures for the ter-ritory. Death: On his way to Washington to defend his use of government funds, Lewis stopped overnight at a log cabin in Tennessee. There he shot himself twice. He died at the age of 35. Although the majority of historians agree that Lewis's death was a suicide, a few historians say that the evidence supporting such a claim is not only inconclusive, but suggests that Lewis was murdered. The People's Almanac, 1975
I had never heard... that Meriweather Lewis died by suicide, from two gunshots, on his way to Washington to answer for financial irregularities?
you're only supposed to upload non-free images to wikimedia commons as a last resort (even when the pics would clearly fall under "fair use"). and some editors end up explaining their reasoning VERY thoroughly when doing so
You know who else famously used paid informants to infiltrate extremist groups?
The Justice Department.
Mayor Adams?

Though critics of ranked-choice voting argue it is too complicated for voters to understand, many jurisdictions that have tried the voting method haven’t reported heaps of spoiled ballots or widespread confusion.
'SWIMS' upside down is still 'SWIMS.'
(also his example of a raise that wouldn't be life changing was 30k lol)
Randomly thinking about the time in my 20s I got put in a "rising stars" program and the CEO told us all that company culture/liking the people we work with is more important to our quality of life than money and we shouldn't change jobs just for a raise and within a year like 90% of us were gone.
Also, that AI is technology made by people who hate everything that makes being human worthwhile for people who resent those of us who like doing the things that make being human worthwhile.

My most geriatric millennial opinion is we're the only generation who grew up in an era where computers were not scary new technology (magic) but not so advanced it just did stuff for you (magic), so we're the only* people who actually understand what they are and how to engage.

I am given to understand that some of these people have a history of being smart, which … if that’s what Claude does to people’s ability to think, keep it the fuck away from me, thx
Turns out if you want to totally unhinge a certain type of LLM enthusiast, all you have to do is give them a question that they need to do the tiniest bit of research to answer
Cat Dog almost never aired on Nickelodeon because executives worried that children would ask too many questions about the titular creature's genitalia and method of going to the bathroom.
I definitely had questions.
"'When we began working with informants, we were living in the shadow of the height of the Civil Rights Movement, which had seen bombings at churches, state-sponsored violence against demonstrators, and the murders of activists that went unanswered by the justice system,' Fair said."
I miss gatekeepers
But it solved an obscure math problem!
