In 2016, voters passed Proposition 108, opening up the primaries to unaffiliateds. But a faction of Republicans has tried ever since to halt unaffiliated participation in GOP primaries, arguing that it dilutes the conservatism of their candidates.

I just found out that an AI scammer is impersonating me in their spam campaign. I am LIVID.

Please, please share this post. Warn people. I’m horrified that someone might be ripped off in my name.

No one is safe from being impersonated like this.

I Work Very Hard, And I Would Like To Try Cake

By A Horse

Hello. I am a horse. I work very hard at my job of being a horse. When humans say move the heavy thing, I move the heavy thing. When humans sit on top of me and pull on my head, I carry them where they want to go. The main food the humans give me is hay and oats. But I am thinking it would be nice to have a different food.

I am thinking I would like to try cake.

Yes, yes. Cake. I know all about it. When humans eat cake, it is in glad times. It is the food for a celebration, such as when a woman becomes 47. I have seen cake on the Fourth of July. When humans have a cake, they stand around it and clap hands and smile and say happy birthday at each other. Sometimes there are beautiful markings on a cake, such as balloons or a pink shape.

Sometimes the top of a cake is on fire and a boy must blow on the fire with mouth wind. This is the scariest cake. I do not want this kind. But I will eat any other cake. Any cake that is not the fire cake that tries to kill the boy.

Please understand: I do not get money for doing work. I do not get to go inside the house. All I am either doing my horse job or standing in my pen or eating food off the floor. I always do these things. But I have never once gotten cake and I would like it very much.

I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children. I am more helpful to the farm. Children do not move the heavy things like me or let anyone ride on them. And yet they get cake. Maybe the humans will realize this. Maybe they will say, "You know who deserves cake? That horse. That horse whose back we are always on."

Every day I dream about what it will be like if I get to eat cake. Here is what will happen. First, I will walk to the cake and putt my nose at it like hrrfff to make and stomping my hooves to make sure it is not a snake. Then I will trot in a circle to show that I am a horse and I am large. After that, I will nuzzle the cake to …

The horse op-ed is an instant classic. I can't tell you how much joy this piece gives me.

It should be taught in every introductory writing class in no small part because the horse arguments are so compelling. "I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children."

Ours did that up till like a month ago when they went full phone ordering and then things really started to suck. So watch out, yours might be next on that. Guess they didn’t get enough complaints about the pre-show phone ordering.

Reading THE GALES OF NOVEMBER about the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Have arrived at the “yes, like most bad shit that happens in America, the root cause was corporate greed” chapter.

Like man if I wanted to look at my phone during a movie I’d stay at home and watch streaming. The food is cheaper and I don’t have to try to figure out if my housemate wants another beer ‘cause she can just go get it herself. @alamodrafthouse.bsky.social

While there’s always a “change is bad” reaction factor, I’d encourage @alamodrafthouse.bsky.social management to not dismiss this as such…because even once I’m used to this new system, you’re still making me to look at my phone on the middle of a movie, which is the LAST thing I want to do.

I’m not going to threaten to switch to AMC or something because @alamodrafthouse.bsky.social is still by far a superior experience, but it’s WILD that I’m being actively discouraged from both spending money on food and drinks and organizing group moviegoing by this garbage ordering system.

This online ordering system is also terrible if you have multiple people on one tab. I’m paying for the season pass to be…unpaid waiter for my family, monitoring if they need refills or whatever and struggling with an online menu when I’d like to be watching a movie. @alamodrafthouse.bsky.social

2 weeks ago 1 0 1 0

It’s also a baffling move from my viewpoint because it’s actively stopped me and people in my party from impulse ordering alcohol or desserts because it’s such a pain in the ass and—shocker—I DON’T WANT TO BE USING MY PHONE IN THE MIDDLE OF A MOVIE. @alamodrafthouse.bsky.social

Honestly probably the same with how they just don't get writing. Because yeah, practicing writing is frustrating and unpleasant. And if it doesn't do it for you, then you just never do it enough to level up. But some of us obviously do! Same with art. And so on and so on...

That's some real inability to understand that other people are different from yourself on display by that guy. Like yeah, dude, you don't enjoy learning to play an instrument. Neither did I, which is why I didn't have the gumption to keep going with an instrument after HS. But others do!!
