BBC migration coverage: Review finds no consistent bias but risks to impartiality A review of the BBC's coverage of migration suggests the corporation should explore stories in greater detail.

BBC editorial staff should re-read their immigration review

The corporation struggles to cover well stuff that is not politically contested or controversial

It should cover controversial issues but it risks reinforcing major public misperceptions on key issues

Mass killings, widows abandoned: Behind Nigeria's 'religious war' Deadly violence in central Nigeria has led to questions about whether Christians are being targeted or if there is more to the story. But this offers little comfort to the families left torn apart.

You are seeing this page because our security systems have detected some unusual activity on this connection. To regain access to The Telegraph website please try the following:

The Telegraph just gave a convicted criminal a two-page spread to explain why he's pumping £4 million into Reform UK. They tucked his criminal record away in the small print. So as a former financial crime specialist I’ll do their job for them👇

@jamessloam.bsky.social could you consider the practical side of voting? It would really help if there were clear guidance for schools on this. Eg is it ok for a pshe lesson to be devoted to registering on the electoral roll, in school time? Physically doing it? Getting it done?

As a teacher, many young people are interested in issues/politics. Some obviously aren't. But the biggest barrier, even to the 18 year olds (some year 13s in my school voted in the by -election) was logistics. How to get on the register, how to get to the polling station, how to prove your identity.

Can we have polling stations in schools and colleges please? Could have hundreds of voters, including the staff. After all, MK has one in a shopping centre. Is there an imperative to have voting only in your ward?

Is it acceptable for schools to march all their year 12 and 13 classes down to a polling station in school time and say, over to you? Is that ok or not (wouldn't work logistically in some settings, but would raise the profile of voting). After all, the blood transfusion service comes into schools

Plus, ID needs sorting. if the only recognised photo ID is a provisional driver's license (the voting card is another organisational hassle, once you are on the register). Authorities need to think about what it is like to be 16, 17. No transport, no time, no control.

At least, votes at 16 will mean that 16 year olds (fairly stable address-wise, much more so than 21 year olds) have a fighting chance of getting on the electoral roll. Being on the electoral roll at all is key. What they do with their vote is up to them. Can they do worse than existing voters?

Labour challenges Farage over cost of private jet trip to Maldives Anna Turley questions revised £25,000 figure for failed attempt to reach Chagos Islands on jet linked to billionaire Labour has queried Nigel Farage’s claim that a return trip to the Maldives on a private jet linked to a billionaire donor cost as little as £25,000 as the Reform leader attempted to reach the Chagos Islands. Farage initially recorded his two-day trip to the Maldives as costing £12,500 funded by Thailand-based Reform megadonor Christopher Harborne, before upgrading this to £25,000 in the latest register of interests. Interesting that BBC's Nick Robinson asked ex NatWest chair Howard Davies 8.21am "the argument that being made by opposition parties 'just drill [fossil fuels] now', would that help?"
Answer: "No. That's political point scoring." The missing info is, who is funding these parties.
