Calm down, computer software isn't making decisions about who lives and who dies in war. It merely processes a ton of data and then makes a recommendation to a human who has no realistic way to verify it
Resharing this video because the newest update is that this bill has been so heavily amended by the administration that it is nonfunctional. It’s a right without a remedy; a messaging bill that won’t actually help folks who need it. And so I plan on rejecting the amendments. More on that later.
I like to to call it Woke Palantir
Why do the Japanese like their buns askew (2026)
like someone was complaining recently about one of the doctor characters citing burnout statistics in a conversation with another doctor (as if doctors don't reason about probability & statistics when writing a paper for a journal, or when reading a paper, or considering treatment options, or...)
yeah; in general it seems like a lot of criticism about the show from non-med people needs to be postponed until after the critic has a chance to ask like a couple of ED physicians/nurses/techs about it.
Tapping the sign
I don't know if young people these days understand that this kind of grotesque gutter racism was simply not acceptable in public... not that long ago!
compromise option: newline at the end of every sentence (:
(the text object selection will work just as well; the resulting PDF or HTML look single-spaced just the same; and as a bonus, git-diff output will look more legible for mid-paragraph changes.)
yep. See also vim text objects; it's nice if the command to delete-around-sentence (das) or visual-select-around-sentence (vas) isn't tripped up by a mention of "Dr. So-and-so".
like n#t bros, crypto, ai boosters, everything of this nature, they put so much energy into telling you that "you can't win" which is what someone who really, really needs your help in rolling over and showing your belly says
they tell you to give up because they'd rather not lose a fight to you
I spent 16, SIXTEEN years fighting this crap.
I can’t believe it 😭
i don't suppose wasm + webGPU is a viable target for deployment?
I'm one of those trans women. I worked ground ops for Artemis I.
I am torn between celebrating the success of my friends and peers and grieving how my dream of working for NASA was shattered by hateful assholes in Tallahassee
A lot of people could stand to read this until they have it memorized.
Just a reminder that we can fund science, and save the earth, and feed everyone, and have health care and housing too.
All those things are within our reach, together.
Humanity did that. Science did that. Publicly-funded research did that. Excellent universities did that. Diversity did that. International cooperation did that.
Artemis II is a perfect example of what we can do at our best.
Welcome home, Integrity crew!
Science is good. We should fund it.
This infuriating attitude shows up on the bookshelves in learning environments, too. We expect girls to empathize with boys, but we kneecap every opportunity to let boys empathize with girls. And look where we are.
I wrote and posted this to Instagram a couple of days ago and it became my most-read poem ever. I’m honored I get to feel big feelings alongside you all. I’m posting it here too and want to use this space more consistently. Hello friends ❤️
To all who celebrate
The white flag, aka the official flag of the Confederacy
Wishing you and yours a very merry Confederate Surrender Day.
As the father of a middle schooler I have seen the rebellion against AI forming there — even using “that’s AI, bro,” not indicating something is literally AI, but that something is metaphorically so — it’s sus, it’s bullshit, it’s bad weird
editor: you need to rewrite
me: why
editor: because we need plausible characters
me: whats the problem
editor: You're claiming its actually possible to turn the Iranian govt and the Catholic Church into sympathetic figures within 12 months???
PA, being a Quaker state, automatically granted enslaved people freedom after a certain amount of contiguous time residing in the state. To get around this during his time in Philly, Washington would regularly send his slaves to NJ or DE to make sure they didn't meet the requirements to be freed.

oh and a constitutional law that prohibits PACs.
and retroactively, anyone who dumped millions of dollars into any campaign has to spend the rest of their life living on basic income, in basic housing, and doing community service.
