The various styles and approaches each individual comes up with just to get through both a ridiculously tedious and ridiculously important part of the job no one ever mentions until you’re told to do em…. I feel like I understood my parents a bit more after action noting a whole episode….

I’ve used that exact equation in my job explanation to my doctor parents. 😂

I’ve been lucky that most of the animation/VFX studios I’ve been at haven’t had huge, visible, well-known issues with men being tools
but there’s been at least one incident at each and every studio that’s reminded me that yeah, animation is still a boys’ club
always was and always will be
It makes my heart ache wondering if I’ll ever be able to find a physical copy of this to watch. If this ever was taken off YouTube or anywhere else on the internet.
Here I am watching a Perry Mason tv-movie from the 80s on YouTube just so I can see if I can catch my late grandma as an extra in the courtroom scenes. Thank you filmmakers for your extra placements, cameramen for such nice compositions and editors for keeping so many shots of her in. RIP Grandma 💖🎥
"Art is sacred" is a great way of putting it! I know that's not quite what op is saying here (but i agree with their point too!) Art is like prayer, a machine can't do it for you, YOU doing it is the point.
I feel this in my bones.
A good thing about AI slop like the Cruise/Pitt fight thing is that it highlights just how repetitive and soulless MANY movie fight scenes are. They might as WELL be slop.
Some top-of-my-head things to keep in mind to make your fights human:
- Incorporate the environment (cont) 1/
The showrunner is reviewing your script. She points out a joke that she absolutely loves, but you didn’t come up with it; another writer pitched it. What do you? Here’s a quick #Scriptsky #Screenwriting thread on when to credit others, when to take credit, and when to keep your mouth shut.

Treat environment art, vfx, props the way you would treat a character. Always ask questions what purpose they serve in the moment and think about how they all fit together.

Just making sure that 2025 is definitely over
Grease from a drainage pipe leaking out from underneath a stove. Paper towels naively attempt to stop the flow from spreading across a kitchen floor. Slippers were abandoned for accidentally stepping in it and tracking it anyways.
A hole in a wall behind a stove has black grease stains from runoff. The floor was attempted to be cleaned.
Dealing with this surprise maintenance emergency - the drain pipe’s cap in my wall popped off when they were fixing my upstairs neighbor’s garbage disposal clog somehow - feels symbolically appropriate to how this year should end. 🫠 I’ll at least go into 2026 with disinfected floors I guess.

What a magical feeling to be inspired to create after watching an amazing animated show some of your friends worked on! And I can just be a fan having a good time watching without work brain in the way! Amazing! Absolutely love how Might Nein turned out! Beautiful work, everyone who contributed! ✨
He was one of the first folks I tried to look up here when I switched over so I could start filling my feed with joy as soon as possible. I’m still thinking about him this morning. This has been such a rough year. Even in death it feels like he’s bringing the community together.

We chatted only briefly and only online but it was always a pleasure to share excitement over animation. I’ll always think of you when I listen to your rage out music recommendations when I need it.
I hope your last bit of time here was as peaceful as possible and you can rest fulfilled. RIP
All these people who obsess over Ghibli soley as an aesthetic need to be forced to watch Porco Rosso over and over again until that line "better a pig than a facist" gets through their thick skulls.
The thousands of micro decisions you make as you execute on a new idea are going to have more of your unique voice than the actual idea itself.
Shortcuts looking to circumvent that miss the whole point of art.
Sometimes their quality of life needs too. I struggle with jumping in Destiny and at least triple jump feels like I have some control in vertical climbs. 🫠
That’s basically me with the subclasses in Destiny. What do you mean there are other classes? I’m gonna rock hunter with the triple jump and invisibility for the rest of time!

Second half of Push the Pose! These steps are a bit more obvious but just as crucial as height and width. #ccadedu #drawingtips #sketchingtips
I didn’t question the “rewarded” because honestly that movie is feels like a reward to watch.
I hope each and everyone working, previously worked on, or is working on working in animation right now is proud of everything they’ve accomplished. Especially despite everything else going on. Seeing everyone sharing what they’ve been up to and their art has me feeling feels tonight. Congrats!
Sometimes it’s the type of brace you’re using that could be part of the issue. Being too tight when the body swells at night is gonna send the pain to different places. There’s some soft braces I use at night that have helped with tendonitis for me. I’ve also found paraffin wax baths help too.
Today’s Oscar-qualified short is 'Wednesdays with Gramps,' a stylized, gaming-inspired tale of family connection from brothers Chris and Justin Copeland, produced by DreamWorks. We’ve also got exclusive access to the film's online trailer.

They played two games at this point. Mariners’ 15 innings win feels like a warmup after this.
I feel like they’re also missing a bit of Star Trek history in that Lucille Ball helped get the show on the air to begin with as a producer??
