#WyrdWednesday One of my favourite weird Christmas tales, the classic account by Jean Hingley of Rowley Regis, Birmingham, of being visited on the 4th of January 1979 by three fairy-like UFOnauts who discussed Jesus, the Queen and Tommy Steele with her before she offered them some mince pies.

Going into 2026 like...

A bedroom in a Northern council house. There is a bare mattress in the foreground with a plaid pattern. Behind it is a white formica dressing table with two drawers at each side, and a large round mirror, which is reflecting the ghost of a hooded monk whose facial features cannot be seen. On the dressing table is a lamp (unplugged) and a statue of St Christopher. And a book, possibly a bible. There is an old fashioned wooden mantle clock underneath the mirror.

Spooky Advent day 19: Seasons Greetings from the Black Monk of Pontefract. In the late 70s a local news story on this council house-dwelling poltergeist used a v shonky/spooky special effect on a mirror so terrifying I had to turn every mirror round in every room I slept in until I was in my 20s.

Sky Crash was the title of the first major book dedicated to the case, written by Jenny Randles, Brenda Butler and Dot Street.

The track is inspired by the work of Jenny Randles on the topic of the December 1980 Rendlesham Forest UFO incident. Cold Witness is the name of a secret project (OTH radar/beam weapon) at nearby Orford Ness, speculated to have had some involvement in the event.

Would be so cool to track down this original painting James Klappis did of this Orangeville, Ontario sighting. I always wonder what happens to these pieces of arts. I hope they still exist somewhere.
