You also see this in some public takes around poverty. There was a newspaper article some time ago where some rich person said we shouldn't police loud noise at night because "that's just how poor people live". Ofc in reality most victims of such noise are poor ppl who must wake up early to work.

More generally, a surprising number of folks calling themselves left wing are roughly as racist as the far right, but approach it as compassion instead: "foreigners are dumb/poor and therefore we must be nice to them".
Dehumanizing ppl as angels is no better than dehumanizing them as demons.

A good chunk of the left shot itself in the foot by taking the old-fashioned and fairly racist position that _all_ immigrants are refugees coming from unlivable places.
This allows the racists to not have to be publicly racist in order to argue that the left is wrong. Not good.

The previous time, I barely caught a bus leaving a few minutes ahead (!) of schedule, and when I realized I had entered from the back and thus without paying, a passenger told me the back doors being open means the driver doesn't feel like making you pay so the trip is free. 🫠
