I have finished "The Remains of the Day" and will consequently be in a state of depression for at least the rest of the evening. I only request that you allow me to retain a sliver of dignity and refrain from judging me too harshly at this time.

Yes? I sorta hate the metaphor but yes?
I'll even preemptively Moat and Bailey for you: there's a long history of "algorithmic speed up beats hardware speed up", so this shouldn't even be surprising.
It's been a huge contributor to my mood lately.
There's a similar thing in "The three body problem"
The horrifying and necessary conclusion at this point is that we are in an overhang of computing power. There is a design for AI that is massively more efficient than what we have, an abrupt discontinuity in performance. Something of a phase change. And when we hit it, it will be a nightmare for us.
Just screaming into the void here but,
Deep down I am still somehow a true believer in Chomsky's view of AI. And I'm entirely alone in this faith.

I'm sorry. I can't believe I would post something so brazen online.
Sometimes your quads are so big I forget you're all so tall
You should instead send everyone a molded and cast bronze sculpture of your arm.
The kids really don't understand lenses and focal length and exposure etc.
Smart phone photography is a curse that has replaced our understanding of photography as an art with a belief in photography as a direct and unmediated representation of the world.
Cyber cry?
Makes it all the tempting.
The Stanford encyclopedia of philosophy has a glaring omission of any article addressing the ethics of cyber bullying and when I can be slightly mean to people who are being silly ๐ชฟ.
