“I need to find a gingerbread house artist.”

A real sentence my wife said about their work. This is life in Asheville, I guess

Just the Premium label; it’s going from the two tier system (Premium or Not Premium) to six tiers, so it’s less all or nothing

Early on, those first three cards, it was the art that hooked me before I even knew how to play. I was a kid holding an incredible creature or evocative moment

And then some other cards that I’ve played across formats many, many times

It’s kind of hard to grasp that there were that many people, and I’m just glad we managed to get all those events off the ground relatively on time without something catching fire 😅

A Brief for the Defense Placing poetry at the crossroads of American life since 1910.

“We must risk delight. We can do without pleasure,
but not delight. Not enjoyment. We must have
the stubbornness to accept our gladness in the ruthless
furnace of this world.”

—Jack Gilbert

I unironically would like that Sheltered if anyone has a line on one and it’s not insanely pricey. Gotta rep Thalia

The Red Poppy

The great thing
is not having
a mind. Feelings:
oh, I have those; they
govern me. I have
a lord in heaven
called the sun, and open
for him, showing him
the fire of my own heart, fire
like his presence.
What could such glory be
if not a heart? Oh my brothers and sisters, were you like me once, long ago,
before you were human? Did you
permit yourselves
to open once, who would never
open again? Because in truth
I am speaking now
the way you do. I speak
because I am shattered.

Always revisiting this poem.

The Best MTG Flavor Text of 2025 | EDHREC It's been a big year for Magic; let's pause for a moment to read the Flavor. This list gathers the best flavor text of Magic in 2025.

“Flavor text” is the intersection of two of my passions: literature and MTG, so I sorted through well over a thousand cards’ flavor to find the best texts of the year. Check out the article at @edhrec.com: edhrec.com/articles/the...

Yes! The lifegain/bats package has been carrying me almost unchanged since BLB, usually going to Diamond/Mythic on arena just grinding daily quests. My list is quite close to yours (though I never got around to Passages), a slightly more aggressive build

Haliya was such a good pickup for this deck.

Kinda have a dream job working not just for an LGS, but one staffed by and frequented by really amazing people?

Idk, Meteor Golem may not be a flashy card or a financial hit, but it gets the job done (I run it in some decks). And thematically i think it works—like, the dude wrecks ANYthing when it comes in

Honored to have two poems from my pandemic crown of sonnets in the latest South Dakota Review along with several friends and writers I admire. Thank you to @artichokeheart.bsky.social for including me in this storied journal.

There’s a small handful of people that I don’t follow back because it seems they follow everyone/have no interest in real connection, and then every few months I get another notification that they’ve followed me yet another time.

Not interested in folks that are just follower-farming

sex is fine but have you ever had someone review your poetry who fundamentally gets what you were doing and a few things you didn't realize you were doing?
