Is there anything more Eastern European than cutting a cucumber lengthwise in midair with a paring knife, pouring a pinch of salt on one half, and rubbing the halves together?

The chasm between "my engineer says they can build a useful browser plugin in one shot" and threatening Salesforce / JIRA / Slack contracts because "AI will just build custom software that we'll use" is like 5 grand canyons wide.

Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)
Watched by Branson Reese 28 Apr 2022

Abrams isn't a man so much as he's an avatar of cultural entropy. If you make something popular enough eventually you will die or sell it off and and a person in thick rimmed glasses whose main artistic vision is that he loves to have meetings will take it and sandblast it until it's nothing. I hate to see this happen here but maybe it's good that this happened. Maybe every franchise should collapse into a version of itself that makes shareholders nod and shake each others' hands. We should learn to speak in a language that rich people who don't dream can't comprehend.

But Head | A Free Typeface

Hey! Finally can share a font I was working on for GitButler.

We wanted a typeface that combined the precision of code with the beauty of magazine layouts. The result is a high-contrast, geometric and distinct But Head!

👋 Introducing Roundabout: built for neighbors, with neighbors New_ Public’s app for local communities enters closed beta in five pilot communities

We’re building Roundabout, an app and website for neighbors to connect.

As we build, we’re grounded in research about what people actually want, and we’re working hard to deliver that.

But what DO people actually want?

"Not a big fan of 70s-90s..."

<Rendezvous With Rama> is somewhat adult in tone but might be a good entrance into that realm when ready. No age-restricted themes that I recall.

So the imperial unit system at some point *officially* became based on the metric, right? An inch was redefined as 2.54cm exactly.
