Please, please stop saying SECKATERY.

Reading a sad story on BBC News about a young actor who has died, and it occurs to me that it comes across much more nicely and sympathetically when the subject of an article is referred to by their first name, as he is here. It should be more normalised.

Unfortunately my copy of 'The Curse of Fenric' would have the 'Mum and Dad's neighbour is taping it while you are on your university year abroad in France' option, which cuts out at the bit in episode 3 where Sylvester is doing his big 'Eeevil' speech. And 'Ghost Light' would be missing episode 2.

They both have all of nature wild and free?

Oh, of course! I was there at Panopticon when it got a spontaneous round of applause.

Just for fun, to see how wrong it could be, I asked the Chatterbox GTI thingy about this and it told me 'Detectorists', because Toby Jones hadn't been in 'Doctor Who' ๐Ÿ˜† then contradicted itself by saying Mackenzie Crook had played the Lone Cyberman in 'Villa Diodati'. It's not taking over just yet.

I wonder if there's ever been a definitive ruling on what the very *best* special effects are in 26 years of classic #DoctorWho? The Zygon ship taking off from the Loch at the end of part 3 of 'Terror' (and later on in the quarry) surely has to be up there. It's hugely impressive even 50 years on.

I do think it's a shame they never did a 'Two Juliets' special.

If you know nothing about this story (like me), it isn't immediately clear whether he allegedly hit someone *in* a golf club or *with* a golf club.

With that in mind, I thought you might enjoy 'The Ballad Of Terry Nation', which my silly brain came up with a few years ago.

It may be a reach, but he does say he 'arranged' the mining!

I hear nothing's changed, but they live underwater... oh wait...

On the other hand, he could just be being an egotistically bullshitting self-aggrandiser, which would fit with the way the character is written and played.

Kevin Stoney as 'Doctor Who' villain Mavic Chen.

Kevin Stoney as 'Doctor Who' villain Mavic Chen.

How old is Mavic Chen? He looks 65-70ish, but claims to have personally arranged Taranium mining 50 years ago. That's one long-term treachery plan. Mr and Mrs C. thought teenage Mavic was playing holovid games in his room when he was secretly sending sub-light emails to Earth's enemies. #DoctorWho

Unfair to post spoilers for the series finale when some people are just starting to watch! ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†

Also, their desperation is perhaps not the most notable thing about them. The planet could just as easily be called Beardius, Smellius, or Psychoticus.

I wonder what Desperus was called before it was full of desperate people? #DoctorWho See also Aridius, which presumably used to be called Aqueus.

It's never occurred to me before, but how much does Trantis look like a spiky David Jason here? ๐Ÿ˜† #DoctorWho (My head-canon about Trantis' facial spikes is that he retracts them when angry and lets them out when he is chilling.)

Can't take credit for it -- I read it on some forum!

Half my brain up to 2004: 'Terry Nation doesn't overtly name anyone after himself in "Master Plan" in a Tel, Taron, Tarrant kind of way.'
The other half of my brain in 2004: 'Sara Kingdom'. ๐Ÿคฏ

I like the design... it could possibly have been choreographed better!

Edward Peel is great, good monster, some of the ice looks amazing and some looks crap, Dominic Glynn on fine form, tone all over the place, existential guard wonderful, some sets cool and others awful (actual letraset on some of the signs?). It's halfway there.

It's becoming almost impossible to park in Hathersage at the weekend. We circled round for about an hour yesterday... Swimming pool car park and the one opposite both full, as was every space on the street! I can understand if residents get annoyed.

I appreciate ambition but I still think the 'Invasion' and 'Moonbase' animated episodes are my favourites as they simply try to look as close to the original as they can, with added mean'n'moody shadows. (Of course in both cases there are existing episodes for reference.)

'White Horses' by Dare is such a great song. I'm always amazed most people haven't heard of it.

A publisher's office. A writer and editor meet.

"I wasn't entirely convinced by the portrayal of thugs, hoodlums and henchmen in your novel, Quentin." Says the editor holding the manuscript, "So I've brought in an insensitivity reader."

The writer looks nervously at an enormous, muscular, tattoed, stubbly, shaven-headed, man who holds the manuscript, a tiny pen, and grins with (perhaps unintentional) menace.
