Limbaugh lost advertisers when he called Sandra Fluke a "slut" but there was no general call -- especially among Republicans -- for Republicans to denounce him.

Yeah, for once, I'd love a Democrat to say, "Yeah, I grew up with conservatives. I know they're full of shit. Trump is very much one of them."

Republicans -- including supposed moderates -- frequently praised Rush Limbaugh. I don't recall the concerned CNN segments detailing every terrible thing Limbaugh had said.

Vance would crush her, including in her home state.

Liberals shouldn't sleep on Vance's bio, especially compared to someone like Slotkin, who grew up in a wealthy Michigan suburb and attended private school.

This is a good point, as I think saying, "People didn't vote for this" or suggesting that Trump fooled his voters enables a narrative that this is not the predictable outcome from voting for Republicans.

If my In and Out fries are underdone and tasteless, I can't say "I didn't order this."

"This is what you get when you elect Republicans."

Every Dem within 100 feet of a camera needs to be saying this repeatedly.

Every time we elect Republicans, we get dumbass wars, tax cuts for rich people, and financial crises. Every time.

Fucking say it!

Sotomayor Faults Kavanaugh Over Immigration Stops Concurrence Justice Sonia Sotomayor criticized a fellow member of the US Supreme Court for failing to grasp the real-world effects of an unsigned order last year that allowed immigration enforcement sweeps in Los...

Justice Sonia Sotomayor lets Brett Kavanaugh have it:

“I had a colleague in that case who wrote, you know, these are only temporary stops. This is from a man whose parents were professionals. And probably doesn’t really know any person who works by the hour."

Excellent piece by @playtyperguy.com I’m a life-long Democrat, child of two New Deal-Democrats. My tolerance for @slotkin.senate.gov was already pretty limited, so I’m not surprised to learn she’s essentially a Reaganite who did care more about her mother than about formally sticking with the GOP.

Just wanted to remind folks, especially the GOP and the FDD, that Barack Obama’s 2015 nuclear deal didn’t give Iran control of the Strait of Hormuz or allow it to keep 60% enriched uranium. It sent $1.7 billion to Iran versus the tens of billions Iran will now make from tolls. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Another aspect of the get shit down faction is it avoids conflict, namely talking about bigotry. That might lead to victory but once they win, they are extremely vulnerable to Republicans who fight. The Dems have no counter except more talk about getting shit down. That looks weak.

I think Democrats would benefit from dropping the idea that the inherent goodness of middle America - nodding to Ned — and picking up the idea of fighting for everyone’s freedom, including freedom from bigotry and prejudice. The old Dems knew how to do that.

@resnikoff.bsky.social has a piece out that complements Stephen’s. While Slotkin envisions a “Middle America” that’s non-ideological, a progressive like Elizabeth Warren envisions one that’s ideological. Both visions work hard to overlook the obvious and both senators used to be Republicans.

Elissa Slotkin Doesn't Own The Democratic Party She's gonna have to share it at least.

Read this piece by my friend @playtyperguy.com. He touches on a problematic aspect of the “get shit done Democrats” which that they work very hard to overlook the ideologies of so-called non-ideological white voters.

Yes, right, it was Denny! I should have singled him out.

AOC lost her bid to serve as the Ranking Member (top Democrat) of the House Oversight Committee. In December 2024, the House Democratic caucus voted 131-84 to select veteran Representative Gerry Connolly, who passed away at age 75 on May 21, 2025.

The King Is Mad But So Are His Subjects An unpleasant reality

I wrote about how we would actually be better off with an actual king, as they are usually deposed when obviously insane. www.playtyperguy.com/p/the-king-i...

Yes, this is joint and several liability. Apportionment is unnecessary. 100% of the judgment is collectable from Trump, Netanyahu, the Republican party, and every party in Netanyahu's coalition. They killed people and spent billions to give the IRGC a victory beyond its wildest dreams.

Denny makes that point.

I've thought the same thing. Reps put in the effort Dems don't. They recruit people out of college and law school to be part of a pool of potential future candidates, judges, etc. The Dem Party org takes anyone the cat drags in. That is stupid & lazy & has obviously led to weak candidates who lose.

Dems are slow to catch up with the world outside of Capitol Hill because they value seniority above all else.

When your opponent's team of young, energetic players beats your team of over the hill veterans, then it's time for a little self reflection but Dems refuse to do it.

Republicans, however, have no reason to feel similarly about Democrats. They are less likely to have a Democratic parent or favorite aunt/uncle. Ironically, if you are Fetterman's Republican relative, you'd likely view him as your misguided "liberal" screw up loved one.

It takes true conviction to exist as an ideological outlier amongst those closest to you. And this creates an imbalance between Democrats and Republicans. Most (white) Democrats are inclined to believe the best about Republicans bc they can't accept the worst about their loved ones.

I think @editorialboard.bsky.social touches on something important here: Fetterman's "heel turn" could be simply explained as him trying to please his MAGA father. This demonstrates the risk of supposed "defectors" to liberalism.

The party establishment is like a major league baseball team who refuses to cultivate and bring up players from the minors because it might upset the veterans.

A poor way to run a team and a strategy that's doomed for failure.

TACO Tuesday's lasting hangover It'll take more than Pepto to calm this shitstorm.

"Trump’s latest climbdown won’t undo the damage from his murderous escalation. Ordinary Americans have seen with their own eyes that the president’s erratic behavior isn’t strategic. This is a crazy person, who did a crazy thing, & is likely to do many more crazy things soon." — @lizdye.bsky.social

He's also not 1,000 years old.

Maine Senate and California gov for separate reasons are tremendous indictments of the party apparatus.

I'm told that Dem leadership didn't focus on elevating a solid candidate bc they assumed Biden would win in 2024 and thus Collins would be a lock in 2026. WTF?

And notably this from conservative Dem Henry Cuellar, who will now support a war powers resolution after opposing it. Not calling for the 25th mind you, but still notable.

Yep. They ruined their own damn party by appealing to/preying upon the fears and hatreds of whack jobs, hubristically thinking they could keep them under control. They failed & now they think they get to put their filthy mitts all over *my* party? They can fuck off.
