Reminds me of... 😆 and ours here is igneous as well, but from millions of years ago, and then reshaped by the waves of a massive, ancient freshwater lake's! (Lake Bonneville.) I'm a certified geology geek. (Very nearly took that direction in my schooling & beyond!) But... arts.

Thanks, Lu! For some reason Lu automatically rolls off of the tongue because of my grandson Lucas! (He's also a VERY engaged & engaging virtuoso musician we/he have discovered, of multiple instruments & expertise!) -Hoping you are well.

For two sunsets in a row, I sat waiting. I knew it would come. Or, perhaps I was being selfish the first time around! I'd been sitting in the tall grasses near the edges of the Great Salt Lake -more than a few times, at sunset. It occurred to me that the view through the tall grasses was exquisite, and I'd one day need to give on representation. Here we have the (my) grasses up, very-very close in front -but also the narrow, horizontal reflections of the watery marshes & the lake beyond. And there's also the sunset through a few low-lying clouds with the very faint mountains of one of the lake's islands -probably Stansbury Island- upon a hazy horizon. Enjoy. It felt a little unusual to photograph it in monochrome, but then again my DSLR was set to record both color & grayscale in tandem at the same time. (I'm horribly colorblind so I truly do compose in a grayscale state of mind... not always, but often!)

All the better then, I reckon! Surely then this kind of perfection was & has been impactful, at that. (Sometimes things just clear the way for but a few, it would seem!!!)

We found ourselves living in what became to us 'The House Of Light" for its many-many southward facing windows. Here we have a subject in a bright, highly contrasted sunlit setting within our white painted kitchen & it's surrounding windows. A portrait of her gazing directly at the camera without much, or no emotion such that the eyes, facial features & long, dark, brunette hair falls in its thick curls (mostly, only) down the side of her face onto her upper body. A (blown out, bright!) lace coverlet is over her shoulder on the very-very white, sunlit side of the composition. -The image is cropped for the original's inclusion of a single, female breast.

(Seriously, we found ourselves for DECADES finding the bodies of numerous collaborators as purely self, purely human animals, mostly non-sexual and certainly of much more honestly expressive individuals. 'Sex', or eroticism rarely came forward. It mostly simply wasn't present, and it opened incredible pathways of knowledge, respect, truth, calmness, being, and yes -beauty.)

@geoffbraine.bsky.social Oh!!! Here 'tis. We were exquisitely exhausted & near the end of driving up the PCH in our little roadster. We did it entirely without a 'plan', day-to-day. (Tons of photowork!) But we lingered long upon that balcony...

1 day ago 2 0 1 0

Had exactly that upon entering a pier hotel balcony of ours after a lengthy day of driving, discovering & shooting as we made our way up the Pacific Coast Highway! It overlooked a portion of the Columbia River's vast mouth w/the ocean. -Was from a renovated pier over to an ancient remnant of a pier.

-Fun that this entire, vast area's been a nearby 'home' to me for decades. Post-cancer, my wife & I also went over miles upon miles of its little traveled roads/passages/trails in the '10s. We went in order to get lost. -Getting to even the edges of it in my current crippled condition simply helps.

@geoffbraine.bsky.social ‐Did there an extensive group of chemfilm detail studies of mostly details in the '90s. Individual statues & features, closeups, and really a lot of 'the small things' passed over because the whole of things are so magnificent! I felt like a child with a first microscope!

Hradčany is a favorite place, in the world, along with Malá Strana -The Lesser Quarter. The senses, all engage there so well.

Our words x'actly to each other yesterday. Especially in terms of what we've become. We desperately need to own it, the murderous violence. OK, just strictly license, register & limit gun ownership & the owners. Go ahead, then take on mental illness & treat it like say -the flu or worse. TREAT it.

I wholly believe that our perception of sentience is flawed... I just simply do, especially after decades of pointed interactions with so-o-o many species of all types. (And I wouldn't be surprised if they can sense my acceptance of this, in them.)

An old scan of a chemical film photo. Our subject is mostly surrounded by dark; the composition is done in a chiaroscuro manner. Her arms are mostly invisible because of the surrounding darkness, but she's stretching them upwards. -She desired to appear as emerging from the dark, into bright light. Her eyes are closed. Her lips seem to be faintly of a smile in formation. We used a diffusion lens filter as well, in order to soften the harsh, angular light coming directly across her from the left of the composition. The perspective is straight on. (This image is cropped because -well, to many people even the presence of a body of a woman denotes something of sexuality. This even can be wholly misperceived when it's obviously an artistic & creative representation of a person entirely involved with her presence in the piece. Oh well. Many of us retain a juvenile attitude towards art, a body, a person, an idea, and the fact that gender stirs their lurid nature of an underdeveloped soul...)

Here we have a fine, dark lace shawl draped over the body of a person's back. The buttocks has been cropped out of this version of the composition, on behalf of those who have a disposition of sexualizing any body, even if it's covered by a mostly dark, but still transparent & lovely fabric. The outstretched arms & waist of the body is mostly in silhouette. The light source is from the front & draperies are obvious, beyond the body & the lace shawl. Enjoy.

An ornate mask is on the face of our subject individual, appearing upside-down on a forest floor. Her elbows are propping her up, with her head & face turned to the side. A smoothness is apparent to her chin, jawline, shoulders, upper chest and arms. -Part of a dark necklace is visible hanging from around her neck. The image is cropped because this necklace falls upon, over & down a female chest. Female chests invoke sexuality for some viewers when in art it really most often simply denotes the feminine gender. Oh well. It's a distinctly different composition & perspective but that wouldn't be noticed by some if it hadn't been cropped away.

A cropped (to avoid the inclusion of a feminine breast) straight on portrait of a person laying on her side is top lit, in a chiaroscuro setting. Half of her rested head is in near entire darkness. Her face is without emotion or of much expression -other than that of calm. A hand of her's is resting in front of her, unfolded & relaxed. This is an old scan of a chemical film print.

Looking up the mountainside of Skunk Ridge in our Cedar Mountains. This is the scene that caught my eye. Due to my relatively new mobility problems I stayed stationary & close to my assistance devices. I'm fairly certain that these are five cedar trees, but I could be wrong. (I'm forgetful because of long-term chronic pain; plus I loathe the effects of medications for it. I'm in love with my brain's abilities and refute the labeling of it as being a disability. Screw that! I'd put my abilities up against most 'modern' people's brains! Plus, I love 'study' and do it EVERY day/night -across countless disciplines. It feels both joyful & wonderful to be so engaged.) A dead tree & it's gnarled/sparde shape is forefront. A more recently dead tree with its bare branches fully intact -is next up the mountainside. A third tree is mostly dead, but not quite. And, midway up this rugged slope are two fully green evergreen trees, in all of their truly hardy beauty. Above this scenario is a long, narrow angled strip of shadow as the mountain & ridge is slowly falling into the end of the day. To me, it balanced my scene to perfection, taking it in.

Angles of a mountainside slope cut upwards, left to right, across this scene as two hardy and short desert evergreen trees cast their shadows downslope -also left to right. The composition is weighted on the left side. The trees are probably cedars, but juniper trees could be correctly observed here in this harsh desert scene. There are some desert grasses & plantlife -but it's so obviously a very dry ridge. The other side (westward) is void of trees. This eastward side gets the slightest amount more of precipitation, and the sparse population of these trees is evidence of this very slight difference!

In a vertical composition, we are looking upon the exact same scene as the previous photograph entails of. I almost always shoot most scenarios in both horizontal and vertical compositions. I usually crop my choices with the camera. Cropping with the camera with an eye out for an interesting setting engages your compositional & perspective skills. These things engages both your mind & heart. They also better engage your audience, post production and/or sharing.

Although it's difficult for me to stand for very long, here I am taking a few shots. Our big, purple Jeep is to my left. Me and our Standard Poodle are centered between two desert evergreen trees (Cedars? Probably. Juniper, perhaps) of in the distance. My partner, this incredibly smart & duty oriented Poodle usually stays close by my side when he detects that I might need his body to lean upon. The sun's getting low in the sky, and our shadows are long! My wife took the picture of my doing such the same!

I chuckled and thought... maybe it was more of a chortle... that a bad actor was involved who's either a techbro or a gaggle of moronic neocons freaking out over a place of offensive reality & honesty; a place of fun/happiness, caring & beauty sharing. Forward looking = bad; regressive anger = good!

Here we have a close up, very direct chiaroscuro styled, type of grayscale & film portrait. Our subject is in a VERY contrasted depiction, toplit with very little grey toning of her facial features (brows, eyes, nose, mouth, forehead, cheeks & chin) as she gazes intently towards you. Her hair dominates the composition as much as her gazing eyes & face. This dark hair is very long & very-very curly. The long ringlets fall off of the framing. (It's a cropped portrait here, because in the full composition her hair falls well over her barely distinguishable & bright breasts. Oh well, too many people see sex‐ instead of the gender that all humans possess in one manner or another!)

Utah, here. Salt Lake City metro area. So why am I here? Being a seemingly tiny blue dot in a pile of tilted red nonsense is rough. That's why. I wouldn't put it past bad actors, either. We're dreadfully weary in most media platforms, so Bluesky has been remarkably assuring. Pls hurry. ♥︎♥︎♥︎ *grins*

PlusnI'm severely ill & disabled so your platform is beyond helpful (w/in my social isolation & struggles.) There's quite a few troubled & unique individuals on Bluesky such that getting it fixed quickly should outweigh any nonsensical techbros BS. Becoming 'the best' is the easy part; get it fixed.

Yep. "Server..." repeatedly since last night. So guys, if it's bad AI coding- toss it. Simple. Human coders are obviously the wiser, especially now. (That is of course if they are competent coders.) The other platforms still suck BC they aren't abt community/communication. It's still in your favor.
