Spending time tonight at the University of Houston with the Outcast Cookers and serving as a judge for cook-off at Frontier Fiesta.

Congratulations to our very own Zoe Smith, Assistant Director of the Center for Career and Professional Development and adjunct lecturer in the Marilyn Davies College of Business , as the recipient of the Outstanding Adjunct Award at the University of Houston-Downtown Faculty Awards program.

This is an incredible show, and it pulls on your emotions. Be warned. We highly recommend it.

There were some outstanding chili ... the teams had a lot of fun and so did us judges. A great University tradition.

The Division of Enrollment Management hosted the Grad Fair for all University of Houston-Downtown students graduating on 5/8. Our Gators were able to pick up their regalia, announcement cards, graduation stoles and cords, decorate their motorboard, & take a picture in their regalia.

Congratulations to UHD Center for Career and Professional Development in Student Success and Student Life on their successful Etiquette Luncheon sponsored by Amica, Enbridge, and the Gator Resource Center. This is a wonderful learning experience for our Gators.

Earlier today, I was honored to provide the wekcome to the Syracuse University Hill Society's Orange Advantage webinar. As both an alum and senior student affairs officer, I am proud of the work being done across academic affairs and the student experience in support of student success.

I enjoyed the College of Public Service’s Social Work Person of the Year program. This year, a student committee coordinated the program and the selection of the recipients. The recipients were outstanding and the students' testimonials were perfection and heartwarming.

The UM School of Education & Human Development is one class act. This beautiful book arrived today and showcases each of the Centennial Medal recipients from this past University of Miami 100th Anniversary Homecoming. I am humbled and honored to be one of the recipients. #GoCanes 🧡💚

Today, we welcomed over 400 inquiring students and family members to the University of Houston-Downtown for our Spring Open House. Our faculty, staff, and students came out and showcased all that is great in our Gator Community. #GoGators

Bayou Bash 2026 was a great success tonight. Big thanks to the UHD Student Leadership & Involvement team and the Council of Organizations. The crawfish was great, the music was fun, and the atmosphere was gator-rific.

For the guy who likes to take a lot of pictures, I have not been very good about capturing all of the connections and reconnections over the last few days. Yet, my heart is full, and the sense of belonging/community with my friends and colleagues in NASPA is strong.

I am grateful for the partnership with Beth Moriarty, Ed.D. , Ed Cabellon, Ed.D. and Diane Miller, Ph.D. to share our collective experiences from our interim leadership roles. I appreciated how we approached our presentation.

Thank you, Dr. Kira Gatewood , for sharing our University of Houston-Downtown story in how we through the Gator Resource Center managed these micro grants for pregnant and parenting students. I am honored that we were one of five institutions out 300 applications for this program.
