One bright spot in the latest NBC News Poll: What do @colbertlateshow.bsky.social and Pope Leo have in common? Besides Truth or Truthiness, they are the only figures in the poll viewed positively. Historical context: A good sign when you are viewed in the same way as the Pope and Oprah.

Beyond Trump’s overall low job rating, one overlooked data point in the latest NBC News Poll is how he is struggling on the economy. Unlike his first term, Americans are more likely to say that Trump’s policies are hurting than helping, which is similar to their views on Biden.
And 84% of Americans agree with the statement that: “The very rich and powerful are above the law and when they do something wrong, they look out for each other, using their power and connections to get special treatment.” Most believe that this has gotten WORSE recently.
In the latest NBC News Poll we find that America today is dispirited and angry with 59% of Americans agreeing that: “The economic and political systems in the country are stacked against people like me.” This ties a record high on this measure (April 1992).
Five years ago Gallup noted “the great value of the presidential job approval measure as a simple, consistent and powerful measure of public sentiment -- with all of its peaks and valleys.” Gallup’s words are as true today as they were then.
There is little difference in attitudes toward Donald Trump before and after military action consistent with most presidents going back to 1938. We know this thanks to Gallup's presidential approval tracking, a national treasure that ended last year.
I enjoyed talking with @OllyMann on @TimesRadio about the Iran War. Unlike leaders like FDR and Churchill on both sides of the pond who knew the imperative of bringing a nation together in war beyond their base, Trump has taken a different approach. youtu.be/BGQSicf_kZs
In the latest NBC News Poll, we document that majorities of Americans oppose the decision to go to war against Iran and disapprove of the job that Trump is doing in handling Iran. This may be a war of choice, but it is a choice that the American people do not share.
Sharing a Hart tradition to wrap 2025, polling results from 1% to 100%. My 3 favs: 90% find corporate leaders standing up appealing, 49% of moderates identify with No Kings + 19% are interested in the new women's baseball league. @wpbl.bsky.social #NoKings gsrghr.sharepoint.com/:b:/s/Transf...
Great to talk Mamdani-Trump mtg + the generational change within the Democratic Party + how it communicates. @andrewrsorkin.bsky.social Happy to come your way next time over coffee from one of NYC’s many fine local coffee shops, for now!

Great article. Very proud of our partnership with Priorities USA, @daniellebutt.bsky.social + team to more effectively engage with young men. Young men want a conversational back and forth. They want to learn something new rather than be told something old. www.nbcnews.com/politics/pol...
Indeed. Support for No Kings is broad, and across nearly all demographic groups, is much higher than support for MAGA. Independents are 3x more likely to identify with No Kings than MAGA. #NoKings
One of the most striking findings from the NBC News Poll is that 43% of Americans identify with the No Kings Protest Movement. Support is both larger and broader than MAGA. No Kings supporters are also more likely to have high interest in the midterms than MAGA supporters.
Women are more likely than men to be concerned about the nation’s progress. Just 38% of women believe that fairness describes America well today, and only 47% say the same for equality.
The data reveal a country at odds with its values. For the past twenty years we have seen anger at an establishment that Americans feel is at odds with their ability to get ahead. This gap must be addressed by those who want to lead America out of the darkness.
While many Americans say that America is living up to the values of freedom and opportunity, just 50% say that the country is fulfilling its commitment to fairness—marking a 27-point gap between the importance of this top quality and America’s ability to realize it.
Heading into July 4th, Hart Research released a new poll that shows Americans are uncertain about our country’s progress, past and present. West Wing Writers advised on the national survey. Compared to 1976, fewer Americans believe the country is achieving its founding ideals.
