It is impossible to argue that scotus releasing this ruling on Trans Day Of Visibility does NOT constitute clear evidence of ANIMUS towards trans people on their part.
They should strike down their own ruling just in that basis alone.

If your U/I is shit, it doesn't matter how good everything else is, or how challenging. As a game dev, your intent HAS to be NOT GETTING IN THE FUCKING WAY of people playing your fucking game.
"Coolness" or "realism" exists in a context. If it doesn't help your game, it doesn't matter how cool or "realistic" it is.
You're making a game. So MAKE A GAME.
Later on, this was redone to just do this thing the same way games had been doing it forever... BECAUSE IT WAS THAT WAY BECAUSE IT WORKED.
Always try to ITERATE U/I before reinventing U/I.
Things become standards because they work. If you reinvent them, it better be BETTER.
This is something I learned to my own regret many years ago when my devs devised a U/I system for a very simple in-game function that was "realistic" but cumbersome when done with kb/mouse, and I let them get away with it... my devs "reinvented" a U/I functionality outside of established convention.
Game developer tip #1:
You must hire an experienced gamer who is older, reflexes, hand-eye, and patience impaired and GIVE THEM VETO power over your U/I design and implementation.
If just making your game work or completing fights or puzzles drives this person to murder, that thing MUST be redone.

I had a friend who said: "It's like you're a parody of a man." because I was TOO on the nose of what I thought that should look like: the "alpha" who intimidated people away from questioning my act... while, since I'm not and never was one, having no idea what being a man really was from the inside.
