It’s my fiftieth birthday tomorrow and I’m sick with a vile cold, cough and laryngitis which has left me totally mute. I’m getting myself this as a present! Because Susan Pevensie and I are worth it!

Well, I’m reading this

Wait, now I need to read this. What are the Susan Pevensie tells? Does she wear lipstick?

Had a dream that Bill Murray had found out a way to predict the future by something called a Sex Ladder where he watched people have sex on a ladder. However it was later discovered that it was merely an elaborate ruse to allow him to watch people have sex on a ladder. 1/2

It was a lighthearted post about the Hollywood tendency to romanticise England in a way that I find ridiculous. It may be that those trains are in service somewhere but choosing them is a syndrome of that tendency. The film might be fun and great, I’ll probably see it anyway.

They were raised together though, so they are properly sisters even if they aren’t blood sisters

Here they are together!

Melissa Gilbert was the adopted daughter of Sara Gilbert’s mother

OK further digging reveals that they are not blood relatives, which helps a bit, but still.

I just discovered that Melissa Gilbert (Laura in Little House on the Prairie) and Sara Gilbert (Darlene in Roseanne) are sisters and now my brain is broken.

In my rules, which nobody adheres to, if you’re going to reference online dating in the dialogue you also have to have train seats that aren’t forty years out of date.

Practical Magic 2 | Official Teaser Trailer YouTube video by Warner Bros.

I regret to inform you that Practical Magic 2 takes place in England and judging by those train seats it’s the kind of Hollywood England Kate Winslet lived in in The Holiday when she commuted from a tiny isolated rural cottage to Central London for work every day youtu.be/iSWP2feb4rw?...

Poetry Challenge: Memorize “The More Loving One” by W.H. Auden (Gift Article) It’s about love, the cosmos and everything in between. And all week we’ll have games and readings by poets laureate, beloved authors and an Oscar winner to help you memorize it.

The NYT this week is challenging readers to memorise Auden’s The More Loving One, and to this ends has asked various writers and actors to film themselves reading it. The only one who makes a really decent fist of it is Josh Radnor. Poetry reading is a dying art! www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Indeed. But it’s a tradition for me to go see them with my dad, ever since Octopussy (I was seven, thought the title was a cute name for a squid) so despite the MANY flaws I have positive associations. He is 88 so they’d better hurry up and cast the new one because it won’t be the same without him.

My cousin Shawn took weed to impress a girl when we were teenagers and his asshole & penis switched places. All the doctors at the (real) Pitt threw up when they saw it. Be my guest and Get “high” if you want this to happen to you

My favourite moment in the most recent film is Ana de Armas’s look of horror when Bond mistakenly thinks she’s making a pass at him
