This is all to say, the fall of Rome was caused by uniquely Roman circumstances. Broken promises, infighting, the military structure, etc. Direct comparisons to the modern day should be taken with a grain of salt and the words we use to make those comparisons should probably be used carefully

I have no idea how to fix this issue, but I see a lot of people using the fall of Rome as evidence to support a right wing worldview, and in almost all cases drawing those modern parallels doesn’t work. The world today is simply too wildly different to make those direct comparisons
