MOST AMAZING PARRY SAVE OF MY LIFE
THE CAMERA *LOVED* ME ON THIS ONE
Other big names I remember include Botania, Mekanism, (earlier on) ICBM.
For an earlier snapshot of a minecraft modding age that lasted a while, look at the Voltz modpack on TechnicLauncher!
Not that I blame them for getting on with their lives.
Now when I see the current mod ecosystem, it's crazy seeing how far things have come. Create was a new find for me, and seeing the new magic and tech stuffs is really cool, yet I still find myself a little sad when I go to add a mod to a modern modpack and see
I don't remember playing around 1.12's mod version, either just sticking to 1.7.10 and before, or only occasionally jumping to something newer. I stopped recognizing the modpack names, watched groundbreaking sites like Technic slowly fall into disuse (even I swapped to FTB and then to ATLauncher)
Before 1.6 I think, you had to figure out ways to edit the .jar files, which was one of the big casual-level uses for WinRAR!! I usually relied on modpacks and special mod installer tools that must be obsolete now.
But something lost me after 1.7.10's era was over
There were big "mod" versions where minecraft's changelist stalled and people had time to update all the mods they made-- I started around 1.2.3 (so, after release), but there were a ton of mod versions like 1.4.7, 1.6.4, 1.7.10, and onwards
The biggest mods were household names--Thaumcraft (the fourth and most complete iteration), Thermal Expansion, EnderIO, Applied Energistics 2, and remastered classics like BuildCraft or IndustrialCraft from the pre-1.6 era. This was when modpacks and platforms were really expanding beyond Technic!
That being said, if you want a glimpse into the Golden Age of minecraft modding, you want All The Mods 0
1.7.10 was a perfect moment where there were no game updates for a while, everyone was learning Forge, and the mod ecosystem was strong... if a bit primitive.
it's so weird seeing how far minecraft mods have evolved since the olden days--comparing modern mods to the ones where you were lucky to even get an animated block, let alone the 3d works of art
It would probably make us all cry with joy seeing the cool stuff that exists now
Just realized the book that got handed out at a fun epi event was THE DEAN’S
HE HANDED OUT COPIES OF HIS OWN BOOK LIKE IT WAS A PRIZE
The soap was really nice though, smells like roses. Book makes a nice heatrest
I don't want it to stop being cold, but I need to go swimming desperately--not sure if I'm desperate enough to just book a hotel room or something, though
Let's focus on something we ALL agree on:

Portal comic. Currently Wheatley is on the mainframe and GLaDOS is a potato. Wheatley: Look, for the record, I'm just saying that I THINK that within the next 2 years. AI will have replaced most major pollinators. GLaDOS: ...Just keep pretending to ignore him, he'll probably... The text on Chell's shirt: Agreed. We should ignore him. GLaDOS: Are... you? Doing that? On purpose? With your shirt? The shirt: No, I am the shirt. Please don't let the person wearing me know I can do this.
GLaDOS (to Chell): Hey, I need you to lift me up so I can get a good view of your upper torso. For... normal reasons. Chell complies. GLaDOS: Thanks. The shirt: You really know how to talk to the ladies! GLaDOS: Come on. The shirt: Anyways. Want to know my deal? I'm the ghost of Cave Johnson. Told the lab boys to make me immortal. Didn't say how. GLaDOS (shorting out in surprise): WHAT??? The shirt: Hahahaha. No I'm fucking with you.
GLaDOS (to Wheatley): Hey, you up there! Wheatley: Hah, are you finally gonna admit I'm right? GLaDOS: No, I need you to look at the human's shirt. And tell me what it says. Wheatley: ...That's a trick question innit. GLaDOS: No, I actually want to know. Wheatley: You're trying to make me stare at a woman's chest so I look sexist. GLaDOS: I'm asking you an actual question. Wheatley: I've never done it, ever. Don't even know what they have there. Never will, because I'm not sexist. Or maybe this is an advanced ploy to make it look like I can't read. I can, I mean I do, so much. Love books. Been reading the Odyssey. Not sure if you know that one, but I'm already on the part with his son... GLaDOS: That's the start of the book. Wheatley: SHUT UP!!!!! SHUT!!!! UP!!!! Chell looks down at her shirt to see the text says "get ketchup on me for twenty extra points".
I have this terrible suspicion that Bsky is just a giant AI scraping scheme, tricking you into using keywords for your posts and assigning ALT texts that are, you know, an exact description of each image, including text

Made a flat tire in the rotten vale!
America did not meet the universal adult suffrage criteria of democratic governance until 1965. Gatorade is the exact same age as American democracy.

going to have to format my ipad and lose a decade's worth of memories and art and drawings just because Apple can't figure out how to secure a device without using the crudest possible methods
never getting another apple tablet even if my life depended on it

If you want a mature, well-written wizard school book, read A Deadly Education
Book has a medieval mortality rate, maps you can pore over, actually engaging intrigue, and it doesn’t have black mold staining the pages
