Thanks for building such a useful product – I just noticed Lex Roman announce a new bundle.
This looks very cool! Thanks for the tip
I switched to beehiiv from Squarespace / Patreon in January and am very happy there. I would love to see more novelist and editor types over there so we can get that referral network revved up!
Ooh it looks beautiful – spredges!
Text and a logo of an open book with sparkles emerging from it. The text: Self-Paced Courses for Editors & Writers: Exploring "Passive" Income, Coaching Writers, Working with Indie Authors, Pitch Yourself, Editing Memoir, and the DIY Developmental Edit. TanyaGold.com. Scholarships Available.
Hey, #Editors & #WritingCommunity! 👋🏻
I've topped up the scholarships for all my self-paced courses again!
There's a limited number of scholarship spots for editors and writers from marginalized groups.
They're first-come, first-serve, no questions asked.

It works pretty well as a kind of tarot deck. Open a page, read a bit, close the book. Think. Write.
I’m lucky enough to get to talk shop with Rachel regularly – she’s smart and experienced, and I trust her instincts and ethics. I think she would be great on the EFA board. #amediting #edibuddies
Like Hannah Montana LOL
Nooo! So miserable
Ice skating & Wuthering Heights discourse is all over my timeline & I need everyone to go listen to the audiobook of THE FAVORITES by Layne Fargo because it is both. Johnny Weir is part of the audiobook cast!
PSA: it is a romance in the same way that WH is a romance, which is to say it is not one.
Craft in the Real World is so good – every time I look at my notes from that book I remember another gem. Have fun!
Are you a writer who wants to read more? I'm on The Indy Author Podcast with tips on what & how to read – or maybe even start your own reading group. Host @mattydalrymple.bsky.social is such a good interviewer & takes us deep into the topic.

Indie authors really like making their own decisions, and more power to them!
In my questionnaire I send to copyediting clients, I show them both ways, tell them which is “correct” according to Chicago, and let them choose. Many prefer the look of the single-character ellipsis followed by the space. (And they like that they know how to do it themselves.)
It’s a very common choice in indie (self-pubbed) books, I think in part because it takes more technical knowledge to create a non-breaking space, whereas MS Word will autocorrect three periods to a single ellipsis character.
I want to see Zelu running down that highway in her exos!
An almanac page for Jan 9. Under “Good”: blank. Under “Avoid”: “all matters”
This new almanac I’ve been using is here to tell us that we should avoid “all matters” today, so this is your excuse to ignore your to-do list and take yourself to your couch
What I will remember most about 2025: the Anthropic settlement, the growth of AI narration, the closure of 8th Note Press, and what seems like widespread acceptance or acknowledgment that book criticism/reviews/mainstream coverage has forever changed.
Yikes!
The most interesting part! I was thinking about your book when I saw the king tides bringing water up onto the sidewalks by the Ferry Building last week.
Yes! You are doing it!
"When mush is asked, much will be taken." >>> "When much is asked, much will be taken."
Best typo I've caught in ages, and right in the middle of a tense, life-or-death scene! Phew. The thought of a sneaky little typo like this fucker slipping by is what keeps editors awake at 3am.

Good luck getting home!
There is a Green Apple Books in Terminal 1! It’s so nice there that we chose to have dinner at the terminal before going home. No, I can’t believe I’m typing those words either.
A friend and I, both of us newly divorced and without our kids for the holiday, went out to a fancy steak dinner, just the two of us. Steaksgiving! Still one of my favorite Thanksgivings ever.
A promo graphic for the Editors Canada webinar An Introduction to Editing Speculative Fiction with Genevieve Clovis and Tanya Gold on November 25 at 1pm ET. The graphic has a black background with blue sparkling swirls—like magic or stars.
Join me and @cloviseditorial.bsky.social on Tuesday for a talk on editing speculative fiction!
We'll have an intro to all things spec fic and worldbuilding, and guidance on how to apply it all to all levels of #editing —all this with an inclusive fiction lens.

I cannot stand it
A friend and I were talking about awkward stock photos again and I realized it's never a bad time to reshare this list of sites with free stock images that are both less awkward AND more inclusive in terms of the people in them. (It includes a great one for your fall vaccine coverage!)
