Happy Anniversary to my wife of 25 years!

When you're at a crossroad and don't know which way to go what do you do? Me? I run in circles in the middle of the intersection. You?
Fasting is Hard
Day 3 of fasting from from dinner the previous night to lunch the next day. I'm a snacker, and not snacking at night before going to bed has proven to be the hardest things I've done all week.

Getting to the gym is sometimes harder than the workouts.
1. Trump threatened every hospital that provides gender affirming care to transgender youth.
Many complied and shut down their programs.
Boston Children's Hospital didn't. They fought back and kept providing care.
And now, they just beat Trump in court.

Photo of Kris Black holding his very first comic he ever made.
I made my first ever comic. It's small, some would even say it's tiny, but it's a monumental feat for me. All I've ever wanted was make a comic since I bought my first one in 1989. I finally did it.

I have 12 samples of dirt from various parts of my yard to send to Clemson University to hopefully figure out what I need to put in my lawn to get my centipede grass to grow better.
I've come to realize I don't like group events in loud restaurants. Probably because I can't hear anyone well enough to carry on a conversation. Also probably because I'm older and less tolerant of being around people.
Anyone majoring in #ComicsStudies for a Master’s or PhD degree? I’m interested in pursuing this degree. Share why you love it, what career you may be transitioning from, and if your research has a unique spin or view point.

Fantasy Map for Web Designers
For my day job, I illustrated this editorial illustration that represents how someone can get started with UX design. It’s posted on my portfolio website. The idea is to show the different paths someone can take to get to the same destination. I came up with the idea…
David Wiesner’s Best Page Layouts
I first learned of David Wiesner while watching a video about Caldecott winners Wiesner’s book, The Three Pigs, was reviewed. I was intrigued by Wiesner’s use of comic book style panels, and how the pigs “escaped” their story to the space between pages. Similar to…
@robliefeld.bsky.social I just wanted to say your podcast brings me lots of joy to listen to. Your positivity and love for comics is infectious and has really helped me figure things out for myself. Thanks for what you do and keep it up.
P.S. I really wish you were active on Bluesky.
I think it’s safe to say Hugh Jackman as Wolverine is my John Wayne
If you're a Marvel enthusiast or someone who stands against the unfair treatment of individuals, I urge you to at least check out the video for this Kickstarter project, "Stan Lee: The Final Chapter." You can find it at www.kickstarter.com/projects/sta...
I use Affinity apps for freelance and personal projects. I only use Adobe for the primary/day job. It’s a bit of a learning curve but I’m loving Affinity.
From Spider-man to Building Websites: My Creative Evolution
In 1981, I was five years old and my favorite cartoon was Spider-man and his Amazing Friends. The show starred your favorite web-slinger of course, and his two best friends—Firestar and Ice-man. I wanted to be Spider-man so bad. I loved…
Instagram and Facebook websites deleting my back button history in my browser is asshole design in its purest form.
I remember when bought this and loved it.
I like to randomly ask my wife every few weeks if she would like to go to blockbuster and rent a movie.
John Williams was 45 years old in 1977. He had already had a long, successful career in Hollywood, and was raising three kids on his own after his wife died. Then he became mega-famous. His story gives me hope for a middle-aged creator.
Cover of Amazing Spider-man #315 by Todd McFarlane. The artwork features Spider-man falling in water with Hydro-man emerging behind him. Venom’s head appears in a callout
Finally, after 35 years I’ve completed my collection of @toddmcfarlane.bsky.social Amazing Spider-man. I purchased ASM #315 this morning from my local comic shop.
Do whatever Pedro Pascal does. It’s working for him

Look at me trying to be all Instagram-ish circa 2012, photographing my fancy coffee drink. I fooled you though—it’s actually a vegan hot chocolate.
Garfield. Cat people are obsessive. I know first hand because I became a cat person this year. Our kitten has accumulated more toys in the house and photos on our phones than our 14yo dog.
Well, @disneyplustr.bsky.social did it. They made a fun live-action Star Wars show for kids as much as it is for adults. #SkeletonCrew is so much fun. I love the kids’ acting, special effects, props, sets, costumes, and creatures (or do you call them aliens in the SW universe?)
