The time is now for your voice to be loud and clear. Congress must defend science.
ATTENTION: NSF GRANT RECIPIENTS
We received a heads up from a trusted source that you should proactively download/print/screen shot any documentation on research.gov pertaining to your NSF awards, both those that are current and any that have closed in the last 5-6 years.

Important for funding of science research. Now NIH is said to be stopping research on mRNA vaccines, like the COVID vaccines. These vaccines are extremely safe & have saved millions of lives. Send a letter (1 min) by March 14. #StandUpForScience #DefendResearch #ScienceNotSilence
The 3/14 deadline to finalize the FY2025 budget is fast approaching! ⌛
AIMBE has developed a new advocacy letter (<1 min to send) for the scientific community to urge Congress to support our federal science agencies, including NIH, NSF, FDA, ARPA-H, CDMRP, and more 👇

Senator Wyden confirming that RFK Jr. has stated repeatedly that all of his own children are vaccinated
RFK Jr. has had all of his own children vaccinated (he confirmed this 3 weeks ago). He just wants other people to not vaccinate their children. Especially Black people for some reason… He even required his guests to get COVID vaccines before coming to his party. www.thedailybeast.com/robert-f-ken...

SCOOP: The National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine, arguably the nation's most powerful scientific organization, is bending to political pressure and removing terms like "health equity" from pending reports. Members are not happy. Story by me: www.statnews.com/2025/02/20/n...

Indirect costs are not wasteful overhead; they fund essential infrastructure that makes research possible—labs. Cutting these funds jeopardizes infrastructure that has made the US a global leader in scientific innovation. This is not just an academic concern—it is a matter of national security.
I just talked with a PhD student who will graduate in June this year. She has been gearing up to start a postdoc this fall and has had SEVERAL opportunities tell her they can’t guarantee anything because of all the NIH and NSF funding chaos. This is both within and outside academia #academicsky
Please join my cell biology colleagues and CALL Congress. emails are not as impactful. Here is a simple sample script

TY @aimbe-official.bsky.social for making it easy to prepare a letter to my House and Senate representatives, reminding them of the importance of investments in medical research, engineering innovation, and our science workforce that are under threat in the new administration.
Excited to introduce the HUB and our free inaugural Annual Meeting! Attending this meeting offers an opportunity for $100k pilot grants for faculty! The new innovative program is also great for students and post docs. Register TODAY by clicking the link below:
