I'm old enough to remember this primarily because a friend was in grad school in Scotland and couldn't travel home as planned as a result.

I agree. I always look at the report details. Sometimes it's innocuous stuff that I ignore. I ask for clarification if not.

However, the lack of academic integrity has gotten out of hand. It takes me 3-5 times longer to grade writing now because of rampant copying from ai. It's very disheartening.

Turnitin reports have details about where the information was obtained (sources) and why it was flagged though. Unless the professor isn't reviewing the report before addressing it with their student?
