Remember that MLK said America suffers not just from "the vitriolic words and actions of the bad people but for the appalling silence of the good people."

Happy Friday!

It was so cold out this morning! 🥶 I am glad for the rain we had (so is my garden!) but also grateful for the sunny days ahead.

In this economy, working people don’t have the time or money to drive longer distances or wait in long lines to get a passport or other documents to vote—but that’s what the SAVE America Act would do.

The SAVE America Act is a voter suppression scam. https://bit.ly/4s84swO

@cftunion.bsky.social annual March in March for education! We show up for students, for faculty and staff, and to remind policymakers that every investment in our classrooms is an investment in California’s communities🎯🎯

I was glad to see many of my students mention this in a recent discussion. Many wrote that one of the challenges they faced when writing exam items was realizing that the wording of a question could affect understanding. 🎯 I hope that helps them think more critically when responding to surveys.

Miners at the end of their shift Gilded Age

Miners at the end of their shift Gilded Age

This photo was taken of miners at the end of their shift during the Gilded Age before they were unionized.

A Labor Day reminder of the blood, sweat, and tears that those before us paid to give the working class the basic rights that Trump and his thugs are trying to strip away.

Grief has no deadline

Grief has no deadline

There is no finish line for grief.

Particularly after a traumatic loss by suicide.

There is only learning to carry it differently.

Be patient with those still finding their way 💛

I'm old enough to remember this primarily because a friend was in grad school in Scotland and couldn't travel home as planned as a result.

I agree. I always look at the report details. Sometimes it's innocuous stuff that I ignore. I ask for clarification if not.

However, the lack of academic integrity has gotten out of hand. It takes me 3-5 times longer to grade writing now because of rampant copying from ai. It's very disheartening.

Turnitin reports have details about where the information was obtained (sources) and why it was flagged though. Unless the professor isn't reviewing the report before addressing it with their student?
