Seattle No Kings from the monorail

Agree with the sentiment. The founder does have a response there, which I think is pretty reasonable. Taken in context, it's not an immediate disqualifier for me but I'll probably look into more if I end up liking the product. Thanks for flagging it!

They source some of their results from Brave, which was co-founded and led by Brendan Eich. Eich made some donations ~2010 support of banning same-sex marriage.
What specifically are they doing/saying? I haven’t been following them but am considering giving them a try.

As far as I'm aware, the first documented spike in data leaving an agency after DOGE infiltration. Extensive forensic evidence.

Called my congressman who voted for the SAVE act.
Me: What documents will I need to vote if this passes?
Staffer: a DL and birth certificate.
Me: The documents don’t match
Staffer: Then a marriage certificate.
Me: Will my husband need the marriage certificate too?
Staffer: No
Me: See the problem?

Thanks for making this great tool, btw!
[edited to fix link] Welcome! Your post just made my day. Let me know if you need any help getting started – I highly recommend www.sky-follower-bridge.dev to import your follows, and also searching blueskydirectory.com/starter-packs for your favorite topics.
Oh no! That's terrible – thank you for pointing this out. I was definitely referring to the browser extension, which is what I've always used. I'll delete the post above with the incorrect link (hopefully we get edit ability soon!). @gasiferox.bsky.social FYI
the Tesla protests bring me such joy
it’s so straightforward, it’s available in so many locations, it has a material effect on a primary culprit, the company is suffering, it’s helping normalize a new narrative where this is a brand you should feel embarassed about supporting, and it’s VISIBLE
I thought I didn't own any TSLA, but I own VTSAX so effectively I do. TSLA makes up 1.89% of VTSAX according to Yahoo Finance, and those holdings account for 3.7% of TSLA market cap.
Is there an easy way to invest in "VTSAX minus TSLA"? If a lot of people started doing that it would really leave a mark.
Thanks, much appreciated!
@benjonesieq.bsky.social @chrisiddon.bsky.social It's cool to find you're both on here! I bet you know answer to this.
Super long-shot, but...does anyone here know what per-hour risk threshold was used in developing the clean airflow rates in ASHRAE 241? I understand they constructed a probabilistic model and ran simulations, but I haven't been able to track down the details of the model or decision-making process.
Is there any way in which vrbo is not just a drop-in replacement for airbnb, for both hosts and guests? I know where I'll be booking from now on.
Seattle friends, if you care about public schools this podcast is well worth your time!
That said, I don't particularly care that Bluesky is a centralized network. In fact, I'd love to see them offer even more "off-protocol" fully centralized features in the short-term to improve the UX. Building the future is great, but let's also destroy Twitter now :).
This has been a fun exchange to follow. I especially liked seeing the goals/values of different protocols expressed so clearly.
@bsky.app I know you have a premium service Coming Soon, and I’d like to share a list of the premium features I’d most enjoy:
1. The ability to pay money for this app.
That’s it. That’s the list!
Is there some kind of fundamental limitation here? This may be a bad example because I get the sense most people here explicitly would not want this, but I'm curious if anything like this has come up in discussions among Bluesky devs or folks building other applications on ATProto.
Data like impressions and dwell times are unavailable but seem essential – it's possible to train models without them, of course, but quality will suffer. It's also not clear to me how they could be made available (outside of Bluesky itself, perhaps) without egregious privacy implications.
One of Bluesky's stated goals is Algorithmic Choice. Suppose I decided that I really like Twitter's algorithm (heretical, I know, but humor me) and wanted to build it here and offer it as a custom Feed for interested users – could it be done?
This was a fantastic read. Great overview of key technical & philosophical differences in various decentralized social protocols, along with some nice historical context. As a curious newcomer to this space, this kind of writing is a treat.
I think I'm going to start tagging one Twitter account per day that I'd like to see over here. I was just missing Seattle weather blog, too -- that'll be my first!
