‘Everyone is Replaceable’: Death Rattles Oregon Amazon Facility A worker died at Amazon’s Troutdale warehouse last week. Employees were told to look away.

For more than a week, Amazon has managed to keep a death at its Troutdale, Oregon, facility out of public view.

Workers I spoke to are pissed.

the Trump AI Jesus has an oddly Socialist Realism vibe

Mixing a technology that has driven people to psychosis and even suicide, with a business that sells people what appears to be direct access to the divine…what could go wrong?

Games are a unique art form. They are direct instructions, with an audience primed to follow them. They are unlike music. Unlike graphic arts. Unlike fiction.

Game design is about how instructions focus us, inspire us, outrage us, motivate us, reveal us, help us connect to each other.

we finally beat Baldurs Gate after taking like a two year break (the third act is honestly very boring and has a lot of meaningless side quests about gangs of BG, a serial killer, the annoying elephant detective etc) and the good ending involves we get to chill with Gale's cat!

You're going to run into people who judge your pain or functioning, not because they have any valid basis for judging it-- but because they're imagining what THEY would "obviously" be able to do if they were you.

Let their fantasies be their fantasies.

You work your recovery.

All new and old technologies will serve capital until it’s destroyed. This includes a whole lot of technology that would greatly benefit and serve a socialist society. We risk missing the point when our critique turns primarily against the new technologies rather than the system exploiting them.

A jewel-toned lobster faces the camera, with long horns and spiky bits all over the exoskeleton. It's on a wooden board. The coloration is ornate and very multi-colored, from purple to yellow to blue to orange.

There are five species of rock lobster found in tropical Australian waters, but by far the most abundant is the Ornate Rock Lobster, Panulirus ornatus. This species forms the basis of dive fishery in both the Torres Straits and in the Gulf of Papua. CSIRO scientists have traced the movements of these lobsters to reveal a remarkable picture of animal migration. The lobsters undertake a journey that takes them hundreds of kilometres across the Torres Strait to their breeding grounds in the Gulf of Papua. After breeding, they seem to disappear. November 1985. I'd like to introduce you to Panulirus ornatus, the ornate rock lobster.

They're native to the Indo-Pacific, with a large range centered on New Guinea & the Great Barrier Reef near Australia.

They're a member of family Palinuridae, the spiny or rock lobsters.

So why so colorful?

the lore here is Sister Siinono is the house spirit of an abandoned human convent, and Rarity and Hirono are the house spirits of nearby homes that have been demolished. they came to live with "Sister Snow," who is very old and wise and takes care of them.

so she was like "oh i will have to call pathology" meanwhile the bereavement doula (who is an OR nurse) said that i should have been offered a consent form after expressing interest in burying the remains, and when i mentioned that to the doctor on the phone this morning she was (or acted) clueless

thanks -- it is basically impossible to get any information, we told the doctor we wanted the remains to bury before the procedure but never heard back about it, we have a bereavement doula helping us try to find out what is going on? the doctor is acting like no one ever has asked for this before

"eugenics and scientific or medical racism etc wasn't real science™"
Be for real, come on.
Science has always been part of heinous things, was implicated in and facilitated colonization, slavery, the Holocaust more. All of this IS part of the story of science.
WHY are you sanitizing this?

You are under no obligation to "embrace struggle" w/ "gratitude."

If simplistic bootstrappy bullsh*t worked for trauma recovery, I'd be the first to embrace it. But in most survivors it does nothing but scrape up shame & cringe.
