IF THE ZOO BANS ME FOR HOLLERING AT THE ANIMALS I WILL FACE GOD AND WALK BACKWARDS INTO HELL

Oh sure it’s been 23 years but I still REALLY don’t like thunderstorms. 🫣

The best way to read Bleak House is to pour yourself a drink every time Ester insults herself. You’ll get toasted but the text will improve.

Imagine two futures

One is your hometown filled with people who may look slightly different from you, but who through generations of integration undoubtedly share a kinship with you

Who changed your community but were changed by it in turn

The other is your hometown as an abandoned ruin

Another horse: its allergy season. I’ve been feeling low key bad for 9ish days so far and am 💯 that it’s just pollen BUT…

Trying to explain to younger me that an inquisition and some trials for heresy might actually help things.

*absolutely* criminal negligence. Yes. And that should be fully persecuted.

I just want to protect the distinction that war crimes means a Very Specific And Uniquely Abhorrent Thing. Because as much as I want No More Wars, full stop—as a “species policy” war crimes HAS to be zero tolerance.

“Species policy failure” is amazing. Saving that one. ❤️

Yes, the children’s school needs repercussions. But there’s a strong case to claim it was specifically *not* war crimes—a stupid accident based on poor modeling (WHICH SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE PUNISHABLE FFS) is not deliberate genocidal acting.

Should there be repercussions for the individual wrong actions (double tap, school bombing, ambulance attacks)? Definitely. But this wasn’t the extermination effort that Gaza was (although that was threatened, and, if followed thru, I think definitely WOULD have qualified)

I mean, as unjust as it is, I don’t see a good case for war crimes here—war *itself* is a crime, and I wish it saw more punishment, but war crimes is its own genocidal “worse than” that I don’t know we’ve categorically cleared.

But my “who actually makes me angrier” is currently reserved for the .1% billionaires and racists, and neither of those break cleanly along party lines/political beliefs.

If centrists actually DID things—we wouldn’t HAVE Republicans.

Like. I only wanted 2 things from Biden—enforcement of laws against Trump (not letting him run again) and voting rights reform. And those ARE SUPPOSED TO BE centrist interests! I’m not asking for socialism here, just rights and laws!

I am so glad to hear the comments on this thread and am also devastated by them. I hate that there is suffering elsewhere but it shows that we are more alike than we knew and should care for each other.

Hum a song
Sing a tune.
Dance a jig.
Cast a spell.

Shriek at night with ghosts.
Commune with beasts from Hell
Dance with fairy hosts.
Call terror on the town.
Heal what is broken
What cannot heal, break
Your will be known, and yet unspoken
In silence now awake.

Yeah the centrists are doing “that voice” just fine. No GOP needed to get that position

Liberals and Centrists: but *we need* an opposition party!

The Actual Left: no, you don’t understand, you’ve been fighting us for years—*you* are now the opposition party. 🙃

I think it’s allergies and not political trauma why I can’t breathe tonight, but these are two awful experiences that go poorly together. 😡

My trinket is 6lbs and can’t climb the stairs by himself. He gets halfway up and starts crying and needing to be rescued by mom.

OTOH, he has also leaned how to Houdini his way out of his regular degular crate—he uses the same strategy he uses on the stairs. 🙃

It’s a really special parasocial relationship when there’s someone you’ve followed for years without a follow back. like yessss that’s my friend that doesn’t know me and doesn’t want to

Like, I agree with you that it’s not “have the candidates/platforms/political outreach be better”. In order for that to work, you need the system to change first. And that recorded 2020 turnout proved that environmental change *does* show (incremental) change whereas “more fundraising $$s” does not.

No, I think it does. I think we spend all of the petty squabbles on why some candidate pulled the votes they did, and there’s a big cultural failure to address the turnout writ-large. And that’s bad for democracy and worth fixing and actually a different issue than what canvassers do/don’t do.

Or… just consider for a minute, follow me here… maybe the voting ENVIRONMENT was different, and that (a) expanded mail and drop box access meant something and/or (b) the remote work/lack of social meant people actually had time and bandwidth? Like—what if 2020 had NOTHING TO DO with the candidates?
