A couple months ago the Chronicle published a story lauding how Vallejo has managed to close schools without as much pushback as bigger cities.

It helps to make your decisions in secret.

This is a big regional housing story in addition to another hit to Solano County employment. Factory_OS has been a fixture of affordable housing projects in the Bay Area for years.

I think it was Revolutions and Political Violence. I did take the one you’re talking about which I think was called the State and Modern Society, but I never made the Mandani connection before

Peter Cocks assigned us Shah of Shahs right? I thought that you were in that class, that’s where I first heard of him. I read a very long biography of him a while back and it was super interesting

There was so much carbon monoxide present in this store that a Vallejo police officer who responded to one of the worker deaths passed out while waiting for the coroner to arrive, according to county and state investigators.

If you're on a Kaiser plan through Covered California, read your renewal carefully. Kaiser sent me a letter saying I'd be renewed for a plan that is "the same or similar" and my premiums would go up 11%.

Apparently "similar" to Kaiser means my deductible going from 0 to $5,200.

Vallejo police search for golden handcuffs could expose years of due process violations A Solano County Superior Court judge ordered the city to explain whether complaints against police officers were improperly withheld from criminal defendants.

A Vallejo police lieutenant’s efforts to recover her golden handcuffs could lead to revelations about years of misconduct.

It all started when then-Sgt. Jodi Brown tried to detain a man using gold-plated handcuffs inscribed with her name and badge number.

Williams also said that he felt some interactions with the city attorney's office were also threatening.

He said that he received repeated anonymous threatening emails starting when he tried to fire Jarrett Tonn, the officer who killed Sean Monterrosa in 2020.

He talked to the city manager about it, who told him, "They're not going to stop until I fire you or you quit."

Williams described receiving a Halloween card that emitted a loud screeching sound, which wouldn’t stop until the battery ran out and had paint inside that would explode if it was disabled. “Quit today” and “worst boss ever” were written on the card, Williams testified.

For years, the city of Vallejo has been flagrantly violating transparency law.

It obscures the identities of police officers who are at shooting scenes and releases incomplete video records.

With the help of the @facoalition.bsky.social, we're fighting back.

Another claim by the family of a 2011 homicide victim says that Vallejo police released two suspects because they had blackmail material on an officer.

The claims are based on deposition testimony in another lawsuit, including from former police Capt. John Whitney.

• Angel Ramos, who was killed in 2017 and settled for $2.8 million.
• Willie McCoy, who was killed in 2019 and settled for $5 million.
• Adrian Burrell, who was violently attacked on his porch and settled for $300,000.
