...at the performance of guys who will still be here. Specific things need to go better.

-Bohm needs to get out of his slump.

-Trea needs to get going

-The bullpen needs to walk fewer people.

-Starters need to get deeper into games

Things like that. Topper can only pull levers.

I'd be fine firing Topper.

Don't think he's a bad manager, but I think a bit of an energy shift wouldn't be the worst thing.

Having said that, the specific things that need to go better are basically outside Topper's control.

You'd be firing a guy essentially out of frustration...

He's a liar and a killer. I don't know what else to tell people, he's a rich eugenicist, he wants as many poor people as possible to die in the name of 'health.' He's a genuinely and uniquely malign figure in American life and his appointment was an act of violence

Matt Damon playing a 14th century French knight that looks like a third baseman for the Phillies. Mullet. Beard. Smells like horse shit, pine tar, and cigarette smoke.

Matt Damon while playing Odysseus who also looks like a third baseman for the Phillies. Long, skinny beard. Smells like horseshit, pine tar, and perhaps Mediterranean herbs.

Every time Matt Damon takes on a period role he ends up looking like a third baseman for the Phillies.

Remember, Democrats have repeatedly advanced measures to ban partisan gerrymandering and Republicans have voted against them time after time.

This is the game Republicans wanted to play. OK, then.

Texas republicans illegally gerrymandered their maps and never once asked voters how they feel about it.

California and Virginia let voters decide.

That’s the difference. They started this fight and Democrats are going to fucking finish it.

100 proof.

Imagine being the FBI Director, putting up video of yourself swilling beer with the men's hockey team, then trying to sue people for saying you're a drunk.

What I personally think is, with 115's ability to correct themselves in case of failed transfer or injuries by ahem! Spending more money... For all other teams it has become extremely difficult. Especially when they already have Pep, a cheat code.

Other teams can't do that easily & need more luck.

Maybe, but look at the past few seasons...
Look at Lpool with few injuries, Nwcstle, Sp*rs

Now look at the past 8 years since Pep's first title. Lpool did it when they got extremely lucky with the availability of their best players.

I'm not saying btw there isn't scope for improvement from Arteta.

You cannot treat society like your weird toxic Grindr profile.

"Just a preference" doesn't make you less of an ass.

I think this is notable - the Biden economy was growing healthily & had finally overcome its COVID inflation hangover. There was no obvious fundamental reason the economy wouldn’t have kept growing nicely if Trump were normal!

like this is an extremely well documented and verified fact about humans writ large: cooperation is how we became such a staggeringly successful species.

this fact also enrages and confuses loathsome manosphere types who know somewhere in their bones that it’s true

It bears repeating that historically, the #1 thing that keeps people alive in hard times and disasters is “the ability to play well with others”

the fantasy and, bluntly, the reality. I think at some level THAT's ultimately why we get Trumps. People WANTED things to go to shit because at least it quashes the kind of existentialist angst that comes with higher orders of problem than survival-level.

also, boredom.
