It's so great to see three of my favorite scholars quoted in one piece: @sldelange.bsky.social & @gabrielagreilinger.com @ @leoniedejonge.bsky.social

Nice to get back home and find this in my mailbox 🎉
When you add it all up, the collapse in immigration looks like this: a decline of roughly 50K for illegal (even including the people arrested and not released) and a decline of about 132K for legal. Over 70% of the cut in immigration has come from LEGAL immigration.
That's the thing about competitive authoritarianism: The “authoritarianism” is serious – and so is the “competitive” part. Politics hasn’t ended in such regimes. The rules have been changed significantly, giving a massive advantage to the ruling regime; but the political conflict isn't over.

Andrew's and @annemeng.bsky.social 's work on incumbancy madame reevaluate my understanding of democracy more than most recent work on democracy/autocracy
It helped spur me onto a new project on democratic resilience. Lots of work in the past 10 years purported to show popular demand for autocracy
I agree with the growing chorus championing the applied liberal arts degree as a response to AI, but I also want to point out that the value of the liberal arts degree this is not new. This is one of the 1st things I wrote for @insidehighered.com in 2013. www.insidehighered.com/blogs/just-v...
Ope, sorry, it's just that a Danish sounded good breakfast ya know
It was "Fenrir" and this is partially @createasispeak.bsky.social's fault for getting them this into mythology
The oldest child getting a $2000 Jeopardy clue you didn't get sure feels like a turning point.

Reuters says Tisza has at least 135 seats: 133 is the constitutional supermajority!
Live by highly disproportional electoral systems (which Orbán made even more disproportional with the extra compensation votes awarded to winners), die by highly disproportional electoral systems.
"My treat" (starts handing out Milk Bones)
If the Mahdi was on board the craft he was technically in double occultation for 40 minutes
No I think you misunderstood me, I'm *issuing you a citation* for the deep magic. I mean just look at this place, there's furniture you can just walk through, that's a huge security vulnerability, this is not up to code. Honestly sometimes it feels like you just vibe-coded Narnia into existence
I mean, if it fits, it sits
Minesweeper game partially completed but with no mines identified. A nearly but not fully clear strait top to bottom is available on the center left side.
Ugh, I hate this part, it always feels so easy until here

Not only have I never heard of hubris the whole idea sounds pretty unlikely
Photos of President Macron, a macaroni, macaroons, macaroni, Marconi, and Mickey Rooney.
Helpful cheat sheet.
Realizing that dragoons and dragons are different around the same age made early modern military history make a lot more sense, I will admit
In my article for @talkingpointsmemo.com, I tried to explain the prospects for de-Orbánisation after Sunday's election in Hungary to a U.S. audience, in fewer than 1000 words [by invitation] 🗳️🇭🇺⬇️
Juniper the cat sitting in an open purple unicorn kids' soft lunchbox. Juniper is a black and white adolescent cat with large eyes and an annoyed expression.
Appreciate on these stressful mornings when the kids' lunch just packs itself.
Wise men will say that they disapprove of this take, but they will defend to the death the right of fools to rush in this way
The election of 1936 was completely inconsequential because FDR was great but also Alf Landon was fully capable of rising to the moment that would come and we should be so lucky again
Absolutely not, the requirement needs to be five pumps of the "Dark Noir" knock-off that you got from your friend in the second-least sketchy fraternity at your college who had a "side hustle" avant le lettre.
Done!
Hopefully you turn out to have been overqualified for the starter pack but happy to add you to it if the time comes
