The front view of the highest-effort crossover joke I’ve ever participated in. It’s a Mandalorian helmet from Star Wars, but it’s painted day-glo yellow-green, with black loops, blob shapes and squiggles all over it in a fairly close match to the helmet design of my son’s favorite F1 drivers, Lando Norris. Some aspects of the joke are that the helmet reads “Rancor Energy” with a jagged, green R instead of M; where Norris’s helmet says PURE ENERGY, this says PURE HYPERMATTER in the same font; and where Norris’s helmet says OBX, this says “DAMASK” in a similar font.

This was a collab between my wasband and me, for our son’s cosplaying enjoyment at MoMoCon 2026. I did all the painting except the yellow-green base color.

I hate the re-soloing of development. We were so close to learning social skills, creating community, encouraging creativity & purpose, & applying empathy. Easier to manage if each of us is so busy with our genieswarms that we don't have time to talk & reflect.

Two small pieces of wood have been cut into roughly the shape of the state of Alabama, then painted with a diagonal rainbow (the gay pride flag) plus brown, black, light blue, white and light pink (for people of color and transgender folks). I have then painted the words “Y’all Means ALL,” and, “No Fascist USA” in white, which I will then outline with a darker color. Next, I glue a small magnet to the back of each one and paint my signature on the back. Then they’re varnished, dried, and ready to go!

Working on a new set of these again, because every time I paint more, people come in and buy them! 😅
