Je ne les avait pas posté ici mais j’ai fait deux planches de plus pour mon dossier bd, cette fois-ci il sera présenté par un agent, on verra ce que ça donne :)

Et sinon j’ai commencé à bosser à fond sur un autre projet et je suis à fond (c’est pas une bd)

Aaaa thanks so much June, that's so sweet of you 😭🙏 I'm so glad, I've been having SO much fun with the paneling and colors, and I love these characters so so much! First time drawing them interacting, it's been feeling like magic to see them come to life

Une conversation entre deux personnages, Linoë avec ses cheveux noirs et une cape aux accents turquoise, et un docteur blondinet s’appellant Jonah. Ce dernier demande à Linoë la raison de la présence de son feu follet en dehors de la lanterne dans laquelle il est habituellement. Linoë prétend une décision faite sur le tas, ce que Jonah ne croit pas. Il révèle un secret embarassant sur Linoë qui, de honte, commence à raconter la vérité. Le feu follet, appelé Lueur, se réjouit d’avoir accès à des dossiers.

Linoë raconte qu’il arpentaient la forêt, un endroit seulement illuminé par la lumière bleue des feux follets environnant, pour pouvoir en capturer. Lueur était occupé à tenter d’embêter Linoë assez pour qu’ol le laisse sortir de sa lanterne, mais Linoë garde son calme en relativisant sur le fait que ce n’était pas son premier contact avec un gamin saoûlant. Soudainement, un bruit retentit, et Linoë se tourne vers ce dernier.

Linoë s’apprête à brandir son bâton, et Lueur l’implore d’attendre. Linoë ne l’écoute pas, et balance son batôn auquel est accroché la lanterne de Lueur. Ce dernier hûrle, et le hurlement sort de sa bulle et se prolonge jusqu’aux bords de la page de BD. La lanterne de Linoë se brise dans un coin de la page également.

La case de BD est littéralement en miettes. Lueur se réjouit de sa nouvelle liberté, pendant que Linoë regarde avec effroi ce qu’il s’est passé. La scèene finit sur Jonah, visage dans les mains de désespoir en entendant cette histoire et constatant que son ami.e d’enfance a explosé sa lanterne en explosant le 4ème mur. Linoë hurle et se tortille de honte, et Lueur demande à Jonah en rigolant si c’était toujours comme ça. Ce dernier lui réponds « T’as pas idée. »

🏮🔥Les persos : Linoë est un.e fabricant.e de lanterne chassant des feux follets résidant dans la forêt près de son village ! Son feu follet, s’appelle Lueur, et le doctor blondinet s’appelle Jonah!

2 characters, a black haired person with a cape and a blond doctor with glasses, having a conversation over why a little will o the wisp (blue fire) is out of the lantern they usually sit in. The black haired person defends their decision in letting the wisp out by saying it was a spurr of the moment decision which the doctor doesn’t buy. He starts revealing an embarassing secret about the black haired person who confesses out of embarassement that they were in fact lying. The Will o the wisp comically rejoices in learning about the forbidden secrets.

Linoë, the black haired person, recounts that they were out in the forest, a place only lit up by the blue light of the will of the wisps around, hunting for Will O’ The Wisps. The one in their lantern, called Glim, purposefully tries to annoy Linoë by pointing out how useless it is to collect this many wisps. Linoë tries to remain calm, by telling Glim that no matter how much they try, they won’t get out of their lantern. They suddenly hear a brutal sound, and Linoë turns to it, surprised.

Linoë starts swinging their staff, to which Glim’s lantern is attached. Glim begs Linoë to stop, before they very powerfully swing the staff, and Glim screams as he’s being swung around in the lantern. The scream escapes the speech bubbles to the side of the page, and Linoë visibly breaks their lantern by whacking it against the corner of the page.

The literal panel in which the character exists. Linoë is mortified, as Glim celebrates being outside. The scene pans back to the Doctor, his face in his hands in desperation as he summarizes that Linoë broke their lantern by whacking it against the 4th wall. Linoë screams in embarassement, and Glim asks the doctor if it’s always like this, to which he replies « you have no idea »

🏮🔥 The characters : Linoë’s a lantern maker hunting Will-O’-the-Wisps in the forest nearby their village ! Their Wisp, is called Glim , and the blondish doctor is called Jonah!

I mean, backgrounds will help with variety yeah but that is also a whole other beast to tame. Using a slight gradient as one can be great too! Generally helps with imagining bounce light to keep it more interesting, and also give blacks a different tint.

Picture of my character called Linoë, in an action pose swinging their staff towards the camera. The setting is in a forest with predominantly blue colors, and black tree trunks only highlighted by the presence of the blue will o wisps around it. Linoë has long black hair, a black and green coat with holes (the green part glows), wears blue jean shorts and long black socks with holes.

Yeah, that's where references (and sometimes 3D models) are very handy, because a pose also says a lot about a character's personality : a pose accompanying the movement will emphasize your composition a lot more. Just think in terms of : is my pose driving my comp, or is it the other way round?

I think in shapes and general movement too : do I want my illustration to inspire flowiness, and draw the eye in ? Ok cool then let's go for a spiral composition (example below)
Usually my compositions are inspired by the concept behind the image itself as a result :)

Hhh I doubt I'm what you'd call goated, but when it comes to illustration, it really all just comes down to 1 - what do I want to see pop out, 2 - What effect do I want to achieve/what do I want to say with this illustration (do I want to make people cry, do I just want to make it look cool etc...)
