Maybe it's a good sign that I've been relatively well behaved here in this regard.
Ah what the fuck. For shame.
I wanna see if I'm meeting my quota. @profanity.accountant
This app is kinda irritating me right now. Not sure exactly what I need to do in order to convince it that I have in fact read all of my messages, so that it can stop telling me that there's an unread message every time I open it.
The thing is, when shown stats and figures that prove how bad it is, the kneejerk reaction is "not all men!" Instead of the truth radicalizing them against the status quo, they feel the need to defend it instead. Something big needs to change because even most 'left wing' men don't seem to get it.
I don't hate men but unfortunately I've reached the point where I'm gonna assume that any man I meet is ignorant and conservative and subscribes to toxic masculinity until proven otherwise. They might not all be overt about it but I haven't ever seen that many speaking out against it either.
People don't actually want solutions, they just want to complain. And they do a very good job of dragging down and insulting young people that try to come up with any, until they become older and bitter like everyone else.
For me personally, the "nobody likes this thing but nothing gets done about it anyway" schtick has always been the source of the problem for me. Since I was a kid. To the point where I don't even try to come up with solutions anymore, I just keep to myself.
Feeling pretty much the same way right now. Tired of wearing a mask and tiptoeing around words. Or being left feeling like I've over shared or said or done something stupid if I don't. Tired of being a recluse too though, and finding my people or my place feels impossible.
I saw your other post with the answers before seeing this one and it looked like you were having a really interesting conversation with yourself.
The vibes are great. Seems like a place where people are free to be who they are and let their freak flags fly and either no one cares or people see you for you. I'm aware that I'm pretty feral and abrasive, so I may not completely fit in but as an alien observer, you are some good humans.
I've been shopping around social media for a little while and while I'm not 100% sure this is the platform for me (char limit), I just have to say that the people and culture here is over all amongst the best out of any platform.
Locked within 5h. That thread must've been entertaining.
You can actually even link Bluesky to it!
But it has potential as a decent alternative to that type of social media.
Hey @senilefelines.bsky.social, you might actually be interested in checking out friendica.world too. Or dir.friendica.social/servers for other servers. It's more or less a clone of Facebook. But is still small, WiP and complicated. And from the little I've seen so far, mostly an older crowd.
Damn, I needed to that joint. I should actually stay away from social media when I'm dry because I start unraveling.
Maybe instead of crying and begging people while the value for your money gets less and less, these cinemas could actually, I dunno, compete? Give us reasons to not just stay at home and watch from the comfort of your couch?
I see talk about keeping movie theatres alive but based on the last couple of years, you pay a fortune for everything to get the privilege of sitting through a half hour of bank and insurance adverts before the movie even starts. Whereas on Netflix you can pay the same price for an entire catalogue.
Honestly hate it when platforms leave out features between the website & app. The convenient little plus sign that shows up on people that you haven't followed apparently isn't a thing on the website. Is this gonna become like FB where you have to juggle different devices to access all the features?
Honestly though, that's the only downside of these smaller indie platforms. You get a lot of people that make the fact that they use these platforms a part of their personality. So they take personal offense if anyone still dares to use one of the platforms on the shit list.
Self righteous assholes. First was someone I also follow on Facebook getting shat on for using Facebook, as if there's actually a viable alternative. Because somewhere with a limit of 300 characters or less isn't it. Then another thread where I just saw someone get ganged up on for an observation.
Ok that's two things in a short space of time that have kinda put me off this place a little now.
Check out all the heroes in this thread that are gonna change the world by posting memes for people that already agree. Inspiring!
Yup. I don't know anyone here and I'm not familiar with any of these profiles here or what they've done in the past. So to me, it looks like OP made a simple observation and got ganged up on by a bunch of assholes that take their memeing so seriously that they defend it like religious fanatics.
Also, I don't see how you're supposed to do what you need to do in 300 characters or less. Platforms like this are good for self promotion and that's about it.
I wonder what the odds are that this holy and pure individual having a fit here over you using Facebook makes use of a Google or Apple device to post here on Bluesky. I for one am glad you're there fighting the good fight instead of just sitting here clutching pearls and preaching to the choir.
This Discover feed sure does a lot of half loading and only showing 5 to 10 posts before you have to refresh.
As someone that regularly deletes posts that I cringe about later, I think they're fine. I actually wish there were more people around here just posting random thoughts and feelings to go along with all the art and politics. I find it interesting, personally.
