President Trump speaks at a lectern with an American flag in the background. A headline reads: "Trump Repeatedly Threatens to Commit War Crimes in Iran." Photo by Tierney L. Cross/The New York Times.
President Trump has repeatedly threatened to destroy infrastructure that makes up the foundations of civilian life in Iran — attacks that in most cases would be considered war crimes. He said on Wednesday that the U.S. would bomb Iran “back to the Stone Ages.” www.nytimes.com/2026/04/05/u...
"We should not make the same mistake [endowing AI with consciousness], whether in reality, or even in appearance." ( @anilseth.bsky.social )
"Some little idiot is bound to press the ignite button just to see what happens." (N. Bostrom, Superintelligence)
Can’t help but put these quotes together 😒
The mystery of time, the mastery of time.

Many thanks for all the great contents you share!
How Life Works is the book I give as a gift most often.
😔 A (very!) minor point: is there a reason why the link goes to a specific part of the conference rather than the beginning?
A politically incorrect opinion:
They’re just a bunch of uncool nerds who’ve made it and happened to get rich, and that’s precisely why we think they’re competent and authoritative. But all they know is their bedroom and their tech gadgets. And they’re still just nerds.
“our perceptual experience or consciousness // resides at the level of the whole animal or person in relation to the world.
Colours are relational properties of the world: they are properties of surfaces // relative to perceivers and environmental circumstances // colours are ecological properties”
"Indeterminism means pervasive indefiniteness, not determinism-plus-randomness."

Bad news for QRcodes 😉
Pretty difficult to refute a single thing in this perfect assessment of where the f**k we are, from @iandunt.bsky.social:
"a joke I make about the Turing test is that a new AI Turing test should be: just don’t say anything at all and see what the AI does"😏
AI has no intrinsic motivation to take initiative since it has not to “reverse locally entropy using as lil energy as possible”. Life is the basis of consciousness.
A few days ago, a young colleague of mine asked me if we still need to keep those old things.
Exhorting the citizenry of an authoritarian regime to rise up against their despotic rulers, are we? 🤔
And there it comes the Petrov dilemma
Philosophy #FAQ Ontology: what the fuck? Causality: why the fuck? Epistemology: how the why the fuck? Phenomenology: the fuck.
Unfortunately, I have undergone many surgeries (I am elderly and passionate about sports), and 50% of success depends on rehabilitation, definitely.
It isn’t just that they’re shallow people: they’re indeed those freed horses themselves. We’d better have let them pull carriages instead…
Get well soon (and diligently do your rehabilitation exercises)
This scientific illiteracy is an ethical slippery slope.
“Verba habent sua fata” (words have their own destiny) and if one treats the same semantically (“to train” human instead of “to teach/educate”, for instance) one ends up treating the same even ethically.
🙏🏻 many thanks!
Perhaps this is off topic, but I wonder if this could have an impact when it comes to human access to new niches of speed (bicycles, cars, aeroplanes) and the necessity/usefulness of assistive technology (my job is related to the communication of a Swedish automotive brand😏)
My job is to warn drivers that driver assistance systems require the driver to take responsibility.
LLM mimic our linguistic abilities, but epistemic responsibility remains ours.
Our greatest failure is abdicating our role.

Headline card with text at the top that reads: "The number of US-aligned countries in the UN has crashed under Trump". Two separate cluster of circles below show that during Obama and Biden years 46 countries were aligned with the US compared to 7 during Trump years.
Analysis shows that the world is moving closer to China, as Trump’s isolationism rears its head at the United Nations.
Great idea! I could take up lots of new hobbies by entrusting them to artificial intelligence. Imagine how many new things I could NOT do 😏
A weird scenario might open up when the author designs the book an AI will write, isn’t it @floridi.bsky.social ? 😏
