Anyway here's a really pretty bird.

Ok, I'll try. Today is the Equinox. My dog and I saw a long-billed curlew and two black oystercatchers at the beach this morning, just after low tide. My daughter got into an amazing university. It's prom night. I'm loved and happy.

I've been terrible at social media for the past 8 months or so, since breaking a pretty long-term and stubborn habit. I mean, the urge to post mundane things about my own life is sorta still here but...where do you even start when the world is burning?

It is quite telling that since the horrific story of Cesar Chavez re: sexual abuse broke earlier this week and calls to change the names of schools and other public spaces named in his honor, not one conservative voice has stepped forward to object that this would be tantamount to erasing history.

This is horrifying.

It's nationwide shortage; the change in recommendation from the FDA (not as dangerous per new research) created a gigantic surge in prescribing new patients. The rest is supply chain economics.

This is the second account - the first being in Chicago - of DHS agents mass detaining people and then *sorting them by race*.

The Republican position now appears to be that you have a constitutional right to openly carry a gun in public, unless you do so while expressing a view that the government dislikes, in which case the secret police can shoot you to death on the spot.

I don’t want to hear anything from an elected official unless it’s a plan to defund the DHS and impeach Noem, Bovino, etc. No texts. No emails. No talk about the economy. Step up or step off.

they're executing moms and nurses in the street. they're using preschoolers as bait. they're stealing people's dads and grandmas and children. they're tear gassing babies. they're staking out schools. there is no remedy but abolition. any proposal that doesn't start there is an act of violence.

Same kid who told her friends specifically to please not bring any alcohol to her 18th birthday party (no we didn't chaperone). Same kid who writes real letters (sealed with wax) to pen pals around the world. Same charming, activist kid.

Her and her friends are the future and I'm here for it!

18 year old just had a sleepover with two friends where they couldn't wait to get here and...bake an apple pie from scratch, eat it, and go to sleep.

I'm always here to counteract the narrative that teenagers are terrible and only ever look at their phones instead of hanging out "like we did."

People used to talk over me alllll the time, or I'd never get a word in edgewise... but since perimenopause I have caught myself becoming an interrupter, instead; I just start talking. And I don't much care for that, either. 54 and still learning how to be.
