Can you send me your source on this? I haven't seen that, just that they weren't removing anyone from the platform unless they were inviting violence...
The cashier at the grocery store asked me what podcast I was listening to, and we got to talking about social media. I was telling her about Dear Hank and John, describing them as some of the OG's of YouTube. And she replied, " yeah, didn't YouTube start in 2012?"....2006, my dear....I am so old...
I have a degree in electronic media communications. I graduated the year before Facebook became public so it's been a bit. However, one of my classes was learning the structures of entertainment and what all these people owned. You've got me going down rabbit holes again. LOL
Just to clarify, I'm not advocating for harm against CEOs because of disagreements with their choices (even though recent events are… complicated). But I do think where we spend our attention, time, and money matters, and that has power. Especially with outlets like Time.
I mean, it's Jessica Sibley but she's only been CEO since November 2022. But when it comes to the magazine, Sam Jacobs is the editor-in-chief. And surprisingly, while researching this, I found out that Time magazine is more than just Time magazine. They have their own social media, TV and film, etc.
Ok, but hang on. Why does Time get to choose a Person of the Year? Why are we legitimizing their choice in the first place?
Hate that my school board has to be at the mercy of a legislation that doesn't really understand the valuable work being done in this district.
Mind blown. Listening to the Jon Stewart podcast and realizing that I don't validate the fact that the public school system has failed people before launching into why vouchers are not a good alternative. I need to listen and empathize more and not let fear lead my discussions either.
You can't teach people about the history or the nuance of social constructs if they are scared, hungry, or tired. The perceived control of stereotyping and othering requires less brain power.
I love my little public school district so dang much. They love every kid and hold every teacher, every staff member to the highest standard. Never thought I would see it, but I'm proud to be here. #ichoosepublicschools
