A HUGE, narrative-breaking moment for the UK car market
New EVs are now cheaper than petrol cars on average, says Autotrader
Last yr CCC said price parity was due by 2028 – and it's already here

People are getting some long term health conditions up to 2 years earlier than they would if we were breathing clean air.
That's people losing up to 2 years pain free, 2 years with energy, able to do all the things that matter to them.

The irony is Virginia is telling us how the technique can be used to defeat food fraud, and fish substitution in particular!
But do understand
Tonight's @chesterscibar.bsky.social is on protein analysis for animal forensics.
Tiny amounts can reveal a huge amount about animal remains from all sorts of sources and ages. Even when DNA is no longer present.

This is a long but very informative read on the wider repercussions of the Iranian conflict. TLDR: far longer lasting global disruption than LNG and oil. Fresh water, helium (so CAT scans & manuf), and fertiliser (so crops) will take years to restore. shanakaanslemperera.substack.com/p/the-last-m...
For the first time ever, heat pumps outsold gas boilers in Germany in 2025.
48% of all new heating systems installed last year were heat pumps. Gas fell to just 39%. A decade ago, heat pumps had a 7% market share. The transformation has been remarkable.
I wish science could explain what’s happening.
Few days away chilling in nature. May have been a hottub and numerous pubs too. But there were kingfishers, woodpeckers, red kites and swans.
Another important case of pluralistic ignorance, much as we found with transport policy. Policymakers really have to start using more systematic methods to find where the public's views are
Such a good chart.

That is very much my experience. And making a complaint is near impossible. And pointless.
This is my favorite climate change chart. Japanese monks, aristocrats, and emperors kept meticulous records of cherry blossom festivals for 1,200 years and accidentally built the world's longest climate dataset.
A real world trial shows how a single electric HGV can save operators over £100,000 over its lifetime - and that's before diesel prices went crazy. www.businessgreen.com/news/4527749...

People do not appreciate what a vast, fundamental sea change batteries are bringing to the electrical system.
Science News from research organizations Scientists uncovered the nutrients bees were missing - Colonies surged 15-fold A lab-made diet supercharged bee colonies and could help save our food supply. Date: March 27, 2026 Source: University of Oxford Summary: Scientists have developed a breakthrough "superfood" for honeybees by engineering yeast to produce the essential nutrients normally found in pollen. In controlled tri-als, colonies fed this specially designed diet produced up to 15 times more young, showing a dramatic boost in reproduction and overall health. As climate change and modern agriculture reduce the availability of natural pollen, this innovation could offer a practical way to support struggling bee populations.
Thank you University of Oxford! 🐝🌎
In just over a decade, Chile went from no utility-scale wind or solar at all to having more electricity from these sources than from all fossil fuels.
In 2000, fossil fuels accounted for 45%. By 2025, wind and solar had risen to 36%. Fossil fuels had fallen to 28%. www.linkedin.com/posts/janros...
