Similar experience here. Windows kept saving files to OneDrive when I wanted them saved to my hard drive. I now use another file saving management procedure.

What's the trope name for when someone finds out they're the Chosen One (tm) and is like "No, thank you" and goes and does something else. Refusal Of the Call is the actual trope name. Usually followed by the tropes of The Call Knows Where You Live and You Can't Fight Fate. The Call is Trying to Contact you about your Destiny's Extended Warranty.

I'm holding a small plastic duck painted blue-green and purple with an orange bill. I had just brought it into the driver's seat when I spotted it on the hood. There's a large card on it (proportional to the size of the duck). There are flowers against a blue background on the card with the exhortation "Don't Stop Trying". Isn't that sweet?

I was dropping off some books at the library. When I came back, I saw someone had put, get this, a little duck on my hood up against the windshield. Looking left and right, the other cars had also been treated to similar looking ducks. Thanks, mystery duckmaster, for this duck duck kind duck!

Tolkien is a great writer for dark times, not least because he understood that fighting even when you are certain you will lose is infinitely more moral than giving in to despair and doomerism.
