It's obvious when I'm around people who don't know how to be interesting or fun without trying to get a load of cheap vanity points or blowing loads money. The vibes are off and they are always leeches on any genuinely good vibes that actual cool people who don't rely on either to throw down.
It's just funny to me because I know I've had more fun and lived it up better than them spending way less and not needing to brag about it. I promise genuinely cool, interesting and fun people do not need to gloat ab it to have a good time. They should try putting that energy into being inclusive.
Part of me misses my days living in the Midwest where I just had online gaming friends and Columbus furries I'd meet up with on occasion, then work on game mods between. I greatly prefer my life now but I'm now at the opposite end and it's hard to figure out how to spend the me time I do get well.
I know it's a pretty privileged problem to have lmao but sometimes I feel like I know too many people and I haven't figured out a good balance yet. I miss working on projects, or having a game I can sink into. I think I need to start being ok with missing out on good times even if it's been a while.
I feel like I've been spread thin socially lately. At a party last night it was hard to feel social and connect with people that I wanted to who I hadn't seen in a while. I find I rely on getting high or buzzed to unwind enough. I also feel I've forgotten how to have me time that truly recharges me.

The more you care about everything else in life the more you realize just how valuble a dollar can be and just how little you need to accumulate to thrive. People largely don't understand that. It's hard to convince anyone this is the way when so much of society optimizes for "just one more hit".
Fwiw I don't see wealth as inherently bad, getting good at gaining a resource that opens options is human. It's just bad when you sacrifice stewardship, community, health and time to get it. What use is having options that are wasted away? Too much care about high numbers and not enough about value.
The world is being run by people who are crack addicts for money. So much richness in life beyond wealth accumulation but these people never will know it because of how bankrupt they are in other areas. Yet their broken perspective becomes the dominant perspective society rallies behind as a whole.

Luckily the hotel clearly embraces furries and encourages/expects parties (helped by being in vegas), and doesn't rely on gambling revenue to make money. I think a big thing that helps is all the bars & food the hotel runs make so much money on it's just such an easy profit center for them.
