Indiana's AG Todd Rokita has done the same.

A great dispatch from the Texas border, where Texas Republicans, led by AG Ken Paxton, have targeted a key nemesis of the far right and Christian nationalists: Catholic Charities.
One of the dispiriting things about being a political writer in this era is that things are simultaneously horrifying and, in an intellectual sense, kind of boring. There’s nothing particularly challenging to grapple with; just a lot of hackwork where you point out the same lies for the 87th time.
If the current New York Times headline writers were zapped back in time to December 8 1941: "FDR Once Advocated Neutrality, Now He's Calling For Declaration Of War"

Nobody has given more aid and comfort to health and welfare fraudsters than Donald J. Trump, a new Protect Our Care report shows. He's pardoned executives responsible for more than $3 billion in fraud.

In my view, John Roberts's most impressive PR accomplishment is persuading an entire generation of Supreme Court commentators that he is anything other than a Republican politician who uses legalese to implement policies that Republican voters want
From Australia:
"New research has found public transport fares have not been a decisive factor in pushing people to shift from car to public transport."
"Better public transport access, coverage, reliability, and travel time have a greater impact than price in changing long-term commuting habits."
yeah, Indiana was hit particularly hard by the 2007-2009 collapse in manufacturing.
I wonder if that laid the groundwork for Obama winning Indiana in 2008
Really does seem like a different universe of electoral possibility
2006 was wild. The vast majority of Democratic gains in the House were rural districts. The Dems flipped three seats in *Indiana* alone. By contemporary standards, that election might of well taken place on the moon
For reference, GWB was at 38% approval in Nov 2006 per Gallup, when the Dems picked up 31 seats in the House and 5 in the Senate.
Folks, this is what a GWB second term cratering looks like, just earlier in the term. At ~35% approval, almost everything is on the table.
making ppl say it to strangers is basically a hazing ritual
Saying "Department of War" in public without shriveling into a curled millipede hugging themselves in the fetal position due to embarrassment is a red flag
Man, when you compare the bravery of every day Minnesotans to the overpaid cops it’s astounding
Her campaign parallels the 1968 campaign incredibly well and unlike Humphrey, Harris didn’t break not break from her boss’ signature unpopular war and so she didn’t get the turnaround that Humphrey did.
Didn’t even work for Clinton, he won in 1992 because that election saw the most vote share go to a third party candidate since 1912. Clinton led by double-digits into October until attacks by his opponent connected his personal failings to his moderation & shrunk his advantage to the single digits.
Also, the Dems did a post-mortem review of the 2024 election and concluded that their position vis-a-vis support for Israel in Gaza contributed significantly to their loss. And what we know for certain is that Harris didn’t break with Biden in Gaza and she didn’t win.
You write about politics, but you are unable or unwilling to answer that extremely basic question about politics?
I'll simply say again that for Shlaes to resurface in The Economist at this moment is an indicator of an ambient concern that Rooseveltian policies and politics are increasingly likely. The thing about the New Deal is, it was *immensely popular.* That's terrifying to certain people

I'm just Tim Onion's girlfriend, but I can't count how many times over the last year and a half that Ben and his team were looking down the barrel of a terror campaign and possible repercussions by the state and just kept going forward.
The Infowars news is funny, yes. But more importantly, it is an outright rebuke of Alex Jones' evil.
It's testament to the strength and resilience of the Sandy Hook families who survived this bullshit for more than a decade as well as the Onion, which didn't give up on this for the last 18 months.
Yep. If waiting for the next flight is a good use of time in lieu of getting to the airport super early, there’s no way that paying for lounge access isn’t better a use of the time value of that money.
the airport is just the vacation hype zone if you have margaritaville mindset
Rocking up to the Priority Pass lounge, eat some food and read a book, go to plane, not being late for the luxurious vacation I have planned >>>>>> waiting for the next flight at the airport
This was the exact type of impairment (the leader of the government’s impatience being unhelpful for peace talks”) that was visible to everyone during frankly all of Trump’s debates.
President Trump reportedly screamed at his aides for hours during the search and rescue operation for the downed F-35 fighter jet late last month.
As a result, Trump was removed by his own aides during peace talks "because they believed his impatience wouldn’t be helpful." trib.al/ZfOBZB3
The fact that Jared Kushner derives nearly all his income from the Saudi government while he purports to be negotiating issues of acute interest to the Saudi government allegedly on behalf of the US is simply swept under the rug by US mainstream media.
wow do you think he just stole it
