Getting to the Meadowlands is quite the political topic. My experience? I got my first car in the summer of 1977. I went to every Cosmos home game at Giants Stadium. Sat in upper deck for 8-3 win over Ft. Lauderdale. First big soccer sell-out! Most games were at night. I discovered Route 17 diners!

Marcus Ziemer, a member of the prominent Ziemer soccer family, made an enormous impact on Calif. soccer. He died at 62 of injuries suffered in an accident. He was in Germany watching his daughter play soccer for FC Köln & supporting his beloved BVB. www.socceramerica.com/obituary-mar...
#USMNT position at No. 9 is so different than four years ago. For one ... It did not have a player like Folarin Balogun. Probably best No. 9 in Ligue 1 over last 4-6 weeks. Scores. Also ... Holds-up. Presses. Highly regarded in France. Read my analysis ... www.socceramerica.com/usmnts-proje...

My look at the World Cup, now 99 days out. It will be big shame if Iran doesn’t play. Fan support at SoFi would be stunning, one of the great stories of the tournament. (It was in 2022 when the USA beat Iran 1-0 in Doha.) www.socceramerica.com/mourning-the...

Apologies to @pkedit.bsky.social for copying his post from another site that I would leave if I could. But what he wrote is true:
No newspaper in the United States has covered soccer more and better in its history than the Washington Post. It saw demand and interest decades ago, and answered.
Here's your chance to test your World Cup knowledge. Each quiz will consist of 5 questions, so easy to take. First quiz has some great trivia. www.socceramerica.com/trivia/

With the proliferation of English-language streaming options to watch soccer -- Peacock, Paramount+, Golazo Network and Fox One along with ESPN+ -- it's easy to forget that most soccer is still consumed by U.S. audiences in Spanish. www.socceramerica.com/televisauniv...
Really good story by @jeffkassouf.bsky.social on flight of #USWNT players to Europe. Only thing limiting movement: small number of teams w/ money & ambition. I’d add #UWCL is big factor. Its prestige will skyrocket with CBS deal. Sorry, #CWCC (terrible crowds) is a joke.
