I had a dream I was drawing thumbnails, and - in the dream - sketched this out and titled it "The Dreamer". That was striking enough that I woke up, sketched out the thumbnail in real life, and then sat on it for like eight years. Until now!

It's throwing spaghetti at a wall until something sticks. or in the case of how I draw, until I 'accidentally' form a plane that i need, and keep following it up or down, wider or narrower. I really hope that makes sense 😅
this is not really a linear process, but when i'm really stuck i draw about 5 million really tight loops in the vague direction of the pose i want until i can 'see' the form. sometimes i don't see the form and i draw several sets of them.
it works better for tube-shaped things like legs... but!

Last month I decided to make a giant refboard of every god tier artist Ive ever loved and started "consulting the gods" throughout the art process.
Not to be all "how to level up with one simple trick!" But also this was how I improved with one simple trick.
A landscape with grass, brushes, trees and sky. There is a modification to the visuals that helps make the image look more painterly.
This second image is also stylized like the first. But it's darker, from within an alcove peering out at the green and lush outside.
Here's a rendering technique I've been toying with over the last couple of months in Unreal. It will be used in the upcoming game "Valley of the Lost Abbey" by @rucach.bsky.social
The effect is calculated at runtime with the goal of making any scene look more painterly.
