One of the underrated things about working in an art gallery is that when you're a bit overwhelmed and been staring at a computer screen for too long, you can step away and come into a room that looks like this instead.
It's more than two weeks later and I'm still thinking about how good this performance was on a daily basis πͺ½
Broke my usual rule on taking just one video/picture at a gig to take quite a few and very glad I did because they're giving me joy.
True. But it's something I'm getting picked up on a lot e.g. vΓ 'el' concierto, relajo en 'la' playa, and definitely something I've trained myself not to use.
Same with using Estoy in the first place, I'm very in the habit of just saying 'yo' because I've forgotten the need to conjugate being.
Back at Spanish lessons tonight πͺπΈ getting better, but more & more aware of using the habits Russian's given me that don't apply in Spanish.
1: π·πΊ barely ever uses "the". Eg ΡΠ°ΠΉ Π½Π° ΡΡΠΎΠ»Π΅ = [the] tea [is] on [the] table.
2: π·πΊ also doesn't use the verb "to be" much. Π― ΡΡΠΈΡΠ΅Π»Ρ= I [am a] teacher.
This follows on nicely from my Angine de Poitrine point the other day, that just because a thing is getting talked about doesn't make it bad or a scam. Getting Killed is a great album, and they're fantastic live. You might find a band through marketing, but that's not the reason you keep listening.
I'm more frustrated that we played really well for lots of that second half. Because where was that performance for the rest of this tie? Makes it extra disappointing. If we'd had more guts we could've got a lot more out of both legs. The fact that we withered the moment they scored speaks volumes.
Was more optimistic than I should reasonably be anyway. This team, which is a bit mad but definitely attacking, has made me even more unreasonable. Let's just go for this. π΄
It's a revival of the hipstery musical one-upmanship I thought had disappeared in the mid-00s. Even more tedious now than it was then.
This is a stupidly long way to basically say "let people enjoy music!", but I've just got pissed off today by how many people I follow are refusing to do that.
So many people being snide like "X did it first!" As if they're the first to sound like anything else ever? And many of the bands being mentioned are quite niche, so it's fair if people don't know them! And isn't a gateway band to a new sound a good thing? And can't they still be good?? (/2)
Today I've mostly been thinking about the Angine De Poitrine discourse that my Insta is full of.
My take: they're great! Sure they've got attention for their look, but that doesn't keep people listening. They're being well received b/c it's a sound that not many other bands are doing right now (/1)

Yep, same. I'm so 'meh' about the songs but I can't tell if that's because of something up with the quality this year, or just that I'm not feeling or engaging with anything else about the show.
No longer consider this a spoiler as she's put a version of this moment on her own Insta. My version is not the best resolution, but I still love it.
Still thinking about this show, also about how I don't actually think Β£80 a ticket seems so bad when you consider that (I don't think this is a spoiler) she had a full orchestra & also a whole dance troupe. As well as usual tour tech. That's a lot of people getting paid for their skill.

When I've told people at home I'm going to see Rosalia, their responses are either 1. That's amazing! Or 2. Who?
Option 2 has been far more common. But option 2 people are seriously missing out.
That might well be the greatest show I've ever seen.
I won't post spoilers because I know people here who are going to later dates but...you won't be disappointed.
It turns out that the arena is behind a certain square that is *very* familiar from 2019. Feels sad knowing we won't be having scenes like that again anytime soon.

Sadly I agree. I think he sees it all too corporately rather than as something with a heart and actual values. With the Asia expansion, new audiences are gonna come along regardless

Was considering making a day trip to Toledo on Sunday. But it appears that trains to a city famous for its religious traditions tend to get booked up on the biggest day of the church calendar.

Spent Easter weekend last year in Madrid at the pre-party. Which obviously is cancelled this year in difficult circumstances, but I'd be at if things weren't shit.
So this year I'm putting aside all my complex feelings about it by going to...Madrid.
This is one that I think about all the time. Just too accurate π
The amount I've spent on gig tickets this month is really quite silly. But then again all will be fun, and if it's all going to shit anyway then at least we should see, enjoy and dance to some great art along the way.
This afternoon's listening. Discovered it last December and has been on regular rotation, but only when I know I'll be able to properly appreciate it. Still finding new depth and moments in it each time.
Definitely on my must-see list for Manchester Psych Fest.
