Old Fox's Advent Calendar. The Seventeenth Window. Ermine had been hard at work all summer and autumn on a collection of painted, wooden toys. Many of them were directly influenced by the boats in the harbour of their fishing village, their bright red and yellow sails, their clean, functional shapes. Buoys and floats and bells and anemometers and signals and beacons, buckets and flags and ensigns all entered her sketchbooks, then took form in her little workshop at the back of her Georgian cottage. That morning, accompanied by a proud and beaming Sea Otter, she took samples up to London, to a friend from school, Marjorie Abbatt, who was thinking of setting up a very modern toy shop. Marjorie loved everything and together they made plans. Later that night, at Old Fox's flat in Bedford Square, Ermine opened a window and looked out at the night, breathing in the cold air, the sounds of London so familiar - she was a success, she whispered to the trees, to the taxis - her ideas, her art, her design, her small Cornish life really meant something. And this time next year, in the glorious Christmas of 1931, her toys would enter the world, be bought, be played with, have presence and life and vitality!

It’s on every Christmas, seemingly on a bloody loop every Christmas - to the point where you can get a bit sick of it without even having seen it for a while.

But it’s worth stripping away all that bollocks & remembering, it IS a GREAT Movie.

IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE (1946)🎄

The Rich, The Powerful, The Cowardly We are witnessing media companies, journalists and billionaires bowing down to Trump and his hostile takeover—seeking access, favors and security. They are doing us a favor.

“Rather than fear that the opposition is weakened by these Americans who are bending down to Trump, they are saving us time by telling us that they are not up to the fight and we cannot count on them.”

The issue isn’t just our media capitulating to Trump. It is that our media is now owned by conglomerates and billionaires with multiple interests before the government. They are compromised from the get go.

Yet another deadly school shooting today. Assholes out there still don't want to do anything about gun reform.

here's what we know so far: a teenager obtained a weapon, just as our founders intended, and took that weapon into a school, just as our founders intended, and shot and killed a teacher and a student, just as our founders intended, and ended up dead, just as our founders intended

We all know privatisation does not work ,it always means the consumer pays through the nose for a poorer service. So why did the Govt let this go through ?

Supreme Court term limits? Senators push for constitutional change Bipartisan push for Supreme Court term limits gains momentum as poll shows majority support across party lines.

As a member of the President’s Commission on the US Supreme Court I ended up strongly supporting this change. In my view, it can be accomplished by an appropriate Act of Congress, without any need to amend the Constitution.

Sometimes the combination of arrogance and ignorance is breathtaking. Yes, US health care has high admin costs; that's because it relies so much on private insurers. Govt-run health insurance has much lower overhead

Thank you @bsky.app for suspending the fake account within hours of it being reported. On X there are several fake accounts which have been live for more than a year & X has proved incapable of removing them. What a difference. The sky is most definitely bluer here🙏
