Cover art by Marc Sasso for Dio’s last studio album.
One of my fav covers from Dio’s albums.

Got some brutal developmental feedback on my 35k word novella. And the only way to fix it is to make it into a 60k novel with an entirely new 1st act in front of the existing story.
I like my story to get right into the action. But little setup means the reader cares little about the protagonists
thing is… Even as AI slop, for most its a huge improvement from the amateurish canva designs they used.
I just feel the number of readers that will not read a book with ai cover on principle, are a very small minority.
Sadly, by consequence, AI covers will become a norm.
I think it’s puzzling to see the number of authors self publishing using full AI covers, and most of the readers have no problem with it. But will scream to high heaven’s if an author is caught using AI in their writing.
Now to get $3k from Meta, OpenAI, Google etc, etc, etc.
The outcome i would have preferred to see was a royalty payment. The AI will use what it has stolen for years to come.
For those frustrated with the amount of AI in google image search when looking for references images. And not knowing if an image is AI or not.
Duckduckgo browser has a setting in image search you can toggle on and off that filters majority of AI images.
Time to make duckduckgo default browser
Personally, I thought this was a bloody good movie. Better than most that came out in the same year.

cheers.
Good luck with the new stories.
cheers. Still see it as very amateurish, but it’s getting better.
You on the other hand have been pumping out those stories. hope the self-publishing is treating you well.
That is a glorious cover.
Ok. this is done for now.
I know there is more I can work on it. But I rather learn from this and move onto the next one.
Definitely got a better feel for the brushes on this painting.
#digitalart #fantasyart
Also started working on a new digital painting. Went for a simpler portrait image, as I wanted to test a different combination of Photoshop brushes. These am liking.
I feel I’ll be experimenting with a million brushes till I find the look that suits me.
Time for encyclopaedia Britannica to make a return
Holy cow, the reddit writing, self pub and fantasy forums are littered with "my first chapter.. what do you think of my awesome idea" posts, that are so obvious AI
AI books are flooding amazon right now. Making any new book published, just noise
Now reddit posts are full of "my book has no sales!"
man, lost count the number of times I've seen Tank girl.
yep, definitely dig that black and white. Has a grittier feel to it.
Hard pass, I'll be skipping that episode solely based on his name being associated with it.
definitely enjoying his writing style. Detailed, yet so easy to read. Not over done prose.
Some books are a struggle to get through. Cornwalls paragraphs just glide.
netflix is the first service i subscribed to and the first service I am cutting. Absurd price increases and diminishing quality content every month, makes it a no brainer in regards to which streaming services has lost the plot. Pun intended.
I have shared a lot of my writing in the past.
But for some reason. the thought of sharing and publishing my first book is fucking scary.
It’s like you’re officially putting it out there to the world to be judged, and I, the author, totally complicit in this masochistic ritual.
Currently reading.
This is the first Cornwell book I have read and so far enjoying it.
spent an entire week on a new idea. and then threw it all way.
meanwhile my actual paid client work is falling further behind
have ditched Netflix for HBO. amazon has more variety, and Tubi has some golden oldies. Netflix was the first streaming service I subscribed and it has become the most expensive worse value.
I think the days of ‘googling’ something to gather information is gone. Ai now imbedded in all searches makes it 10x more untrustworthy. I always skip over the AI summary up top during my search. rather do it old school and make my own fact gathering through endless websites.
loved Carnivale. Clancy Brown was brilliant in it.
Finally feels like I’m seeing the finish line with this book. Definitely a huge learning experience. Book 2 will be a very different approach. Sending off to a select few beta readers soon and finishing off the cover art and bam. then deciding where to publish. kdp/kobo/my own website.
agree on all accounts.
have purchased the odd hard drive snd headphones on amazon. but always purchased books from stores. had ku for a short while , but unsubscribed.
now that i want to publish. considering the harder path of selling on kobo or my own website
I'm really digging the new Everon album 'Shells"
Check it out if you like some old school heavy rock/prog rock.

They are thinking like all other platforms. Most users are now more inclined to download and view via an apps, than go to a URL on their browser. Patreon, just wants growth in users
This trend is fine for the tech companies owing the apps, bad for creators, who are now chained to the eco system
Patreon should just stay web only. Make the site as mobile friendly as possible and avoid the app.
Remove app from app store and go back to websites.
Keeping the app, will just encourages people to download it and without knowledge give Apple 30%
