the government can try to erase us but immigrants, people of color, queer people, trans people, WOMEN make the world beautiful and they can’t take us away

The Grammys this year is like the best evidence that queer people create the magic that shapes our world. Queer art is transformative. And no attempt to erase queer and trans people will ever stop our art from reaching you.

“I know there’s some black girl, so many black women watching me right now. And I wanna tell you, you can do it. Anything is possible. Don’t allow anybody to project any stereotypes on you”

— Doechii accepting her first #GRAMMYs  award.

Seeing a lesbian be recognized like this at the Grammy’s makes me so emotional. We are the most beautiful, powerful, loving community

in the face of this administration’s commitment to hate and bigotry, to see women and especially black and queer women dominating the grammy’s tonight is a reminder of our power and impact.

Trans folks have always been here (and have always served in the military). Albert Cashier was assigned female at birth but lived as a man. In 1862, he enlisted in the army and fought in multiple battles in the Civil War. 1/2

one day when this is all over — and it will be — i will personally never forget the people, famous or otherwise, who jumped on board with fascism because it was the easier thing to do at the time

Conservatives are afraid of nonbinary people because they can’t use gender violence to control women if gender is made up.

I just found out that Octavia Butler 1) read mostly nonfiction to inspire her work and 2) often listened to audiobooks instead of reading and I feel SOOOO validated

To be absolutely clear, anti-trans discourse is “not-see” discourse

For folks in the US, I can't emphasize enough how important it is to support queer art over the next few years. Project 2025 seeks to label queer art pornographic and those who make or distribute it pornographers and sex offenders. We can't roll over and accept that. Queer art will live forever.

Buy queer books. Support queer creators.

Now, more than ever.

The most important thing we need as queer folks to survive this shit is joy. Joy is resistance. Joy and community. We need to center queer joy. And I promise I’m going to remind you often in the years ahead. But before we can do that, we have to let ourselves weep. Please, grieve.

Reminder for everyone: Get a library card. Visit your local library. Check out books (especially banned books). Use the other resources. Attend library events. Utilize an important part of your community that is FREE! Don't let them forget its importance. #booksky 📚💙
