Chippy? Perhaps. Wrong? Absolutely not!

Transcription of what? AI systems will generally use the content fed into them to train their models; if you're transcribing interviews, participants may not have agreed to this use, and there may be sensitive content not appropriate for sharing in this way
We still read to my eldest (almost 10) and she shows no signs of wanting us to stop yet๐ค
Kingsley Hall community centre, Bromley by Bow, a beautiful 1920s red brick building with ivy growing up it and two flagpoles
A blue plaque on Kingsley Hall commemorating Mahatma Gandhi's stay there in 1931
The road sign for Devons Road, location of St Andrew's Hospital, originally known as the Poplar and Stepney Sick Asylum
As well as the fascinating interviews, one of the things I'm really enjoying about our current oral history project is getting out to bits of east London I've never visited.
So much interesting history to explore, and finally putting a place to the hospital for lots of the collections we hold
How disappointing to see one of the biggest history podcasts asking for editors to have experience using AI picture and voice generators. History media is impacted enough by slop and nonsense, and many talented artists, writers, filmmakers and designers put out of work. Awful.
We went on a team visit to TNA a while back and colleagues got all kinds of great stuff out for us. We went home talking about the trolley, and i still think of it wistfully from time to time
Blue skies reflected in 17 the stories of windows of the beautiful Arts Tower at the University of Sheffield
Firth Hall. Turns out it is quite an intimidating place to give a paper
The Steel Press student newspaper covers the Stop the War anti Iraq War march. I'm wondering what we published in Stainless, the arts and music section, that month...
A case of tickets and flyers for Fuzz Club and some of the amazing gigs at the union. That Interpol gig was ๐
Heading home from #HAP26 feeling impressed and inspired by so many amazing participatory archives & history projects.
Also delighted not just to see my uni days in the current @uoscollections.bsky.social exhibition, but also reconnect with the arts tower (๐) & get to catch up with Sheffield friends
history is messy, humans are weird, and software needs to get on board
Can you now explain this to makers of certain archive catalogues who did not set their systems up to understand that 1 Feb 1742/3 is a real date please?
Oooo, this is exciting...
Very pleased to finally have someone do this so I dont actually have to read it

Thanks to @helloginnybatty.bsky.social for making me a meme. Absolutely on the nose
Although tbf it was probably Beckenham at that point
A local Croydon crop too! Apparently it was grown on the sewage farm where south Norwood country park now is

Antonellas is great (just by the Crooked Billet) and Heart of Penge (a bit further down the high street). And Alexandra Nurseries if you're feeling fancy. Also, if you're more in line for a restaurant, big recommend for Friends of Flavours
Congrats! Some excellent cafes in Penge to try while marking
Going to need to borrow an ice cream maker pronto. This sounds delicious (they had me at turning the Irn Bru into a syrup tbf)
Ice cream flavoured Irn Bru? Think I would prefer Irn Bru flavoured ice cream. Is that a thing? I would like it to be a thing

Oh @historyextra.bsky.social , you know what your listeners want to hear on the Monday morning commute
Looks a lot more used than those proverbial baby shoes though...
They are so lovely. If I was closer, I would defo make an offer
I choose to remain ignorant of the sunk costs of my husband's miniatures habit, I can see how this is a mishap of significant proportions
I have heard that there may be some follow up from that TNA workshop last year, but its all very hush-hush at present. We can but hope...
Plea for AI to stop telling people we hold records of Bearsted Memorial Hospital. Or for someone to bring back HOSPREC ๐
Vellum I would agree with - not had any experience of ceramic discs, but I'm dubious of that anything which requires specialised equipment to read it. The medium may endure, but will the means of accessing it?
Always mindful of the BBC Domesday project...

Although, this seems less spurious than the claims of 'Project Silica', which came up when we were discussing this in the office; anything which relies on specific technology being available to read it in *10,000 years* time has made some BIG assumptions

I want to see the evidence that what looks like fancy microfilm lasts 1,000 years or more. (I had a look on the Piql website and remain unconvinced...)
