At my first con in 2003, I had my very first, mostly thrifted cosplay criticized by a photographer for "missing details". In 2005, I found one of my cosplays posted on a forum called "Cats on Mars" where elitist cosplayers were making fun of others and their "horrible" builds. Not naming names here but it was savage. Cosplayers left the community because of it. I almost did too. I'm thankful that cosplay has become more acceptable in society but the hate within the community needs to stop.

Came across a post on threads and not to invalidate a really bad experience, but CoM was not a cosplay forum. It was angry weebs who got a thrill out of being mean. This happened a lot in the ‘00’s where sad weebs bullied other to establish an in-crowd.
