*cough* Kneale’s birthday is actually 28th April…
Posts by Andy Murray
He was actually born on 28 April - Wikipedia (and some other sources) have this wrong!
Colour photograph of a white man looking into the camera with a slight smile. He has brown chin length hair, dark eyes, and light stubble. He is wearing a black T shirt and stands in front of a peach coloured plain background.

They should do an arthouse remake of Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads? and call it Tericholia
Next up, The Chinny Cineaste.
Looking forward to appearing on a Nigel Kneale panel as part of this. Should be quite an event!
M&S have been doing their own version for a while. Yeah, a taste sensation!
Les Dawson entertains the Good Old Days faithful (17th February 1977)
Yes - and he didn’t! He didn’t even move from the Isle of Man until 1946, so we can safely rule that out.
Suggestion: an option on iPlayer etc to replay the last ten minutes of the previous episode of the show you’re watching if you nodded off
in which Rowland doesn't bite. He barely even takes a little nibble.
Yes / no (I'd have thought it might be a Scouse thing..?)
Last year, I had the privilege of teaching a course on writing Gothic short fiction with @commapress.bsky.social, and you can now buy a digital anthology of my students’ wonderful work for just 99p!

It’s essentially the same - though I believe the American TV version with Mickey Rooney softened it.
It‘s a marvel. I once spent some serious time trying in vain to track down the script of the original BBC TV version, before I found out it‘d been published as part of a book I’d had all along.
Kneale claimed that JR was unavailable, but I'm not sure how hard they really tried. I don't think anyone had been bowled over by his performance. Besides, they'd always wanted to cast Morrell, right back to Experiment.
Not quite - this wasn't until the late 1990s.
I think some of the TV50 stuff was itself recycled from an earlier TV history celebration - ‘TV40’ / 1976..?
For 2026. Big bundle of my BBC radio work releasing on Audible and most other audio platforms, June 18th. Essentially a boxed set, if downloads came in boxes. Eight Full-Cast BBC Radio Dramas.
On BBC 4 Extra at 4pm: a repeat of @tobyhadoke.bsky.social’s estimable and effective 2018 radio adaptation of The Road. Genuinely not to be missed if you’re a Nigel Kneale fan.

Seems harsh
Remember: It ys okaye to be lonelye. It ys okaye to feel lost. It ys okaye to be sad. It ys okaye yf nobody ys arounde. It ys okaye to have no plannes or just small plannes. It ys okaye to have big plannes that seem exhausting. It ys okaye to be a mess. Take care of thyself. Thou art amazinge.

Merry Christmas, Robin!
If you like the sort of thing I like, you’ll love this. And indeed the whole Peter Fleming podcast back catalogue - why not blitz the lot over Christmas?

Very sorry to hear of the passing of the great Manchester scene guitarist John Scott - as heard on Jilted John and John Cooper Clarke’s albums, plus many projects with CP Lee, including Blue Monday antecedent Gerry and the Holograms. RIP, John.
