One thing about me is there’s nothing as engaging as a mystery bug or infra problem. That’s the kind of hyper-focus I’m addicted to. 😁

prob-slv by computers but rather what level of tech-assist comes off as "creepy" to the general population... this is best observed in the capabilities modern day car manufacturers expose to drivers - a modicum of what they can do; packaged w/ human factors - main goal = widespread adoption.
We aren't, in fact, flying as blindly into the bold new work world as some want to pretend. Two things: be aware your favorite LLM isn't "navigating this" WITH you -- they are absolutely at 10+ years of research since release date of their chatbot LLMs... the biggest q back then was not about
I say this not to call out specific companies - just to remind us that we knew 15 years ago that the ethics of AI was going to be a hot topic... same with our human-interaction models. At the same time we're navigating this at the world scale, let us not forget the work academia has done for us...
The majority have been doing research at the intersection of linguisitics, history, natural language processing, history, etc. way before you knew what an LLM was. The biggest challenge in 2013 was... how much assistance can we (ML/AI) provide without coming off as creepy/disingenuous?
I think the skill of the future is the depth of understanding when AI makes senses vs when it's not - but I do abhor the articles that Google has hired some philosophy genius. I was a 2013 Google PhD Summit participant. We must not mistake the LLM arms-race with the capabilities of tech companies...
Still I wish there was a way to fast-track from vetted sources. But there's some part of my nostalgic soul that wonders whether this violates the spirit of OSS in the first place... I sense the immediate future will become difficult, discerning human-code from AI-driven HIL, from 100%-AI-code.
You'll have to excuse me if I roll my eyes at the idea that any pro-AI company "protects CID" in the model-hungry world. Sorry but a lie of omission is worse than the truth here... 🤣
Are we feigning surprise at this headline? Because to me this is just a regular day in a capitalist economy... whether we're chasing the dot-com era or the ai-bubble or whatever....... 🤷♀️
This is amazing! As a former 90's #Curad kids bandage design runner-up winner, I approve this message! 🤩
My prize was a pair of #Rollerblade brand skates... and while I no longer own that exact pair, I can happily declare... I'm still rollin' with it as an elder millenial... 🎢
Beyond elated to have the first ever #OperationalDataAnalytics Workshop accepted to #SC26, after many years of amazing community SC and ISC BoF engagement! We’re hard at work on the CFP and website but can’t wait for this opportunity!

Probably peoples' stances (?!) - my apologies in advance to followers of Garner's Modern English and also the grammar police 😜
People's stance on this quote, whether they're hearing it for the first time or heard it long ago, still is a great indicator of how I'll jive with someone.
Bonus points if they love the earworm version youtu.be/zSgiXGELjbc?... 🥰

And yeah.. I am serving ALLLLL of that data in hot/warm via @victoriametrics.bsky.social 🔥🔥🔥 #storagemasters
One of the most delicious vendor tickets I get to write is when they claim loss of sensitivity of a sensor (which DOES happen regularly btw - just not coincidentally on sales cycle) - tonight my supporting evidence was the past 999 days of data - actual tf: 2022-12-05 01:17:50 to 2025-08-30 04:32:52
Ty for being a wonderful place to learn, play, & even compete for fun! #Alameda is lucky to have you in the #EastBay!
Yes, these will be the vibes waking up tomorrow knowing I am going in to rack the first ever commodity-tier servers into @nersc.bsky.social's OMNI HPC centerwide monitoring infra!
Great question, @glennklockwood.com! Here’s the AI Factory Lego set I left #SC25 with. I hope this answers your questions. 🤪😂
Quick #AppreciationPost for @nersc.bsky.social as a champion for #neurodivergent employees. As someone who considers themselves so socially awkward, incredibly longwinded in my efforts to cover every possible use case with words (🤪), etc., I’m so grateful for the supportive & collaborative culture.
What an interesting #SC in the books! My 1st time at an elevated committee level — also one of those behind the scenes roles where you never know to what extent you’ve helped. I’m filled with so much gratitude for the patience, helpfulness, etc of the seasoned committee veterans. 😁 #SC25 #hpcignites
Wait, have I always known we are mutual Jersey kids? 🤣🤯
Even a tiny dose of wonderful animal energy can make the stressful things more manageable. Thank you, Buddy the Donkey! 💙 #SC25 #HPCignites
After seeing all of the floor traffic and boxes, major props to whoever shot this video and made it look this awesome!
Well 18k was also a record high. This is still 2nd highest.
#SC25 as #AccessibilityChair is as much rewarding as it is a whirlwind. If I can't meet you or am not responding to meetup requests, you can always catch up with me daily 7:30am-5pm in the Community Engagement office - Room 360.
We are also always open to your feedback, shares, and concerns. ❤️
Our on-prem s3 is nightmare-ish to maintain. Should the monitoring team be looking to add VAST as the future vmstorage/backup backend? 🤔
at the finest granularity possible. Not everyone is as grounded in the reality of the ask. I love that bit from our switch vendor. Equally good - when a popular fs vendor said, "sure, you could have the best telemetry ever from our backend - but you'd get 0% fs performance." These are my people. 😜
I received some feedback on an open vendor ticket tonight that really made me chuckle - "Telemetry is supported, but I haven’t heard of any users actually using it for monitoring." Truly gets at the heart of the challenge here. In #HPCtelemetry #HPCmonitoring, we're often asked to collect everything
